Owners Keep Their Timeshares for a Limited Period before Seeking Relief

The timeshare industry has fast gained popularity among many vacationers during the last decade. However, a lot of timeshare owners today are gradually becoming displeased over their timeshare vacation packages prompting some of these owners to get rid of their timeshares. This is because timeshare vacation packages almost always include the payment of monthly or annual maintenance fees. The continual charges for upkeep not to mention other special assessment bills impart great stresses on the budgets of many timeshare owners. Hence, timeshare owners over time gradually come to avail of some form of timeshare relief in order to be free from their timeshares.

Even with the drastic drop on timeshare sales in the last year, there are still a lot of potential timeshare buyers who are purchasing new vacation packages. However, a recent study shows that nearly half of all new timeshare buyers purchased their vacation packages on resale. In addition, the same study shows that timeshare owners keep their vacation packages for an average duration of only 8 years before deciding to get rid of their timeshares.

The expenses of purchasing timeshares straight from developers are fairly expensive. Developer timeshare prices can go as high as $ 20,000 US dollars per timeshare unit. This is on top of other recurring timeshare fees to be paid by owners over the years. Thus, the statistics of the abovementioned study reflect widespread timeshare owner sentiment over their vacation packages. Most timeshare owners will eventually grow tired of their timeshares and seek some form of timeshare relief in order to be free from their perpetual financial liability.
