People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals?
PETA (People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals) is an animal rights activist group that has recently been exposed to have been killing more animals than saving. In 2008 they euthanized 95% of adoptable pets.
Despite PETA's position of animal rights, they do not have one animal shelter set up anywhere in the country. This makes it so they cannot take in adoptable animals and find them homes. Instead of finding them foster homes, these people who have even been called terrorists often for violent protests are killing animals who could have lived.
According to the public records from the Virginia Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services, PETA killed 2,124 pets last year and only placed SEVEN animals in homes last year. Since 1998, PETA has killed 21,339 dogs and cats. Is this ethical treatment of animals?

It's terrible. I pray everyone gets their pets spayed and neutered. I can't walk through our local animal pound and the shelter without getting a lump in my throat.
