Ask Susan Peters PMI Nutrition Cat Food Review

I was surprised to find that PMI Nutrition is Purina Brand Pet Food. Purina has a history of recalls and so does Purina under the PMI Nutrition label. Purina has a Class Action filed against the company for false advertising. Purina states their pet products are a healthy choice for your pet but with the large number pet illnesses and pet deaths associated with Purina it is safe to say Purina is anything but a healthy choice in pet foods. Do not feed this junk to your cat. Shame, shame, shame!

The first three ingredients listed make up nearly 75% of the contents of pet food. PMI Nutrition has listed Ground yellow corn, chicken by-product meal, corn gluten meal.

You could feed the bag the PMI Nutrition pet food came in and do better. Let's take a look at what PMI Nutrition is asking you to feed your pet. No wonder PMI Nutrtion has a history of pet food recalls!

"Meat" is often rendered euthanized dogs and cats as well as other animals such as road-kill and diseased animals. When the source of the meat is known it will be listed as beef, poultry, chicken, turkey, etc. If the source of the meat is not known it is simply called "meat. Bone meal is ground animal of unkown type.

Corn is a cheap filler used by pet food companies to reduce production costs. We should take time out from this review to remind ourselves of the good and bad effects of corn in a cat or dog's diet. *Corn, wheat and soy are resonsible for fever, ear aches, ear infections, bad bread, dental disease, hair loss, dry and itchy skin, bloat, tumors, warts, moles, abnormal nail growth, arthritis, deafness, blindness, digestive problems, inflamed liver, inflamed kidneys, bladder problems, heart problems, and death. Oh yeah, for the good effects of corn and wheat - reduces the cost of pet food production. This does not sound wholesome to me!

Animal Digest - How about that ... we don't even know from which animal the digested tissue came from. If PMI Nutrition wanted us to know our pets were eating beef poop PMI would say "Beef digest". Since PMI chose to say "animal" the animal can be anything from dog, cat, rat, road kill or whatever. AAFCO doesn't care that manure is included in the pet food as long as the temperature at the time of cooking is brought to a certain degree. PMI does tell us that the poop was from an animal which has eaten shrimp, tuna, turkey and fish.

Now there are those people out there who simply refuse to believe PMI Nutrition would use manure in their pet's foods. Let me ask you to think on this issue for just a minute and then see what you decide. Let's take a person, for instance, When a person begins the "digestion" process food is placed in the mouth for chewing. Digestion continues as the food passes to the stomach and is broken down to pass into the intestines for futher digestion. Digestion is complete once the person has had a bowl movement and fully evacuated the food from the human body. Why would obtaining animal digest be any different from human digest?

Artificial Color - Causes cancer and is not needed for any nutritional reasons.

Because manufacturers need to ensure that dry foods have a long shelf life (typically 12 months) to remain edible through shipping and storage, fats used in pet foods are preserved with either synthetic or "natural" preservatives. Synthetic preservatives include butylated hydroxyanisole (BHA) and butylated hydroxytoluene (BHT), propyl gallate, propylene glycol (also used as a less-toxic version of automotive antifreeze), and ethoxyquin.

Given time PMI Nutrition will be responsible for countless pet illnesses and deaths.....mark my words!! - Susan Peters
