Its been around a while and the general opinion seems to be - yes it's different but I will still use Google.

But what about from a marketing point of view? The traffic may not be as great, but that's not to say the Microsoft adCenter won't bring in conversions.

Bing's marketing tool also provides a few distinct features that can target an already targeted audience.

Age and Gender Targeting

Ok you want to target people in England (tick), you want to target English speaking (tick), you want to target a specific phrase (tick), you want to target a specific time (tick), you want to display a specific ad (tick), you want the user to go to a specific page (tick) - set campaign live right?

Wrong! With Bing you can target gender and age.

Gender

Various products and services that you as an advertiser may be offering, could be better suited to the male or female population. Knowing your target visitors gender allows you to target your ad text and landing pages accordingly.

Age

You can tailor your ad text and landing pages to suit a targeted age group. The system allows you to place incremental bids on each keyword for each age group which will help to limit the amount you spend each month on less targeted traffic.

The Future.....

Only time will tell if this new marketing tool can claw away a large % of search marketing spend, but this new function can certainly help niche products find their target audience.

Just when you thought pay per click management couldn't get any more complex!

I don't think Bing will worry Google unduly but good to have a decent offering at last from Microsoft.
