The newest arrival after the PSP is the PS3, with all the hype over the launch of the latest Playstation finally dying down and the prices of the console slowly starting to come down as well, you can see some real bargains popping up here and there. Heres some of the best of the best that I have seen in recent times.

Let the Playstation 3 times really begin....

Well thought I'd start with the most important part first of any PS3 deals page - the console.

During the run up to xmas here in the UK there was the massive rush for anyone and everyone to own a Nintendo Wii, this did a number of things:

1. Drove the price of the unit up to unseen new heights - up to £400, usually only £175...

2. Had UK retailers pulling out there hair trying to find a source of the golden egg.

3. Had more UK consumers looking online and above all using eBay for those last minute bargins. Ebay sellers across the world were having the time of their lives pouring wii's into the ever hungry UK market.

I as well at that point then looked abroad to other markets for consoles (at that point the wii) and noticed that with the strength of the pound there were some real savings to be had. You could at that point buy a wii from eBay Fr or DE for the original UK price (£175), the only issue being the UK plug socket (easily sorted).

Of course with ebay you need to be extremely carefull when buying, especially when buying something of such value. The customer reviews are priceless to a potential buyer and I personally wouldn't buy anything from someone with less than 99% approval. I also wouldn't buy a new console from eBay unless they are an approved PowerSeller - usually lets you know they are not there for a quick scam and you are more likely to get your product. Above all you need to use you instints - if it looks to good to be true then it probably is.....

Currently however the best PS3 deals for a Console I can find happens to be through ebay - even checking through other European countries offers it seems to be truely one of the cheapest offers online. This a UK version, through a Powerseller with 100% positive feedback!! Worth a look!

The recent news that the "battle" between HD DVD and Blu-Ray is over, Sony's gamble of installing the Blu-ray into all their Playstation 3's seems to have paid off.

The Playstation 3 is now a good option when looking for a Blu-Ray player, they are about the same price as an entry level Blu-ray player with the added bonus that theres a Playstation attached to it. I must admit that that was the decider for me, my wife was less than impressed when I orignally told her my plans of buying a PS3, but after hearing the news that Blu-Ray is here to stay (and a little pursuasion) she warmed to the idea. We now watch Blu-Ray quality films from our LCD TV - she is nearly as pleased as I am.

There are also some great deals on Blu-Ray Films to be had and you can pick some up for around the same price as a normal DVD if you look in the right places...

When looking for PS3 deals on games I have found that outside of sales or outdated games the best place to look for some bargains for is in Amazon. The UK market seems to be much cheaper than abroad, I have friends on the continent to whom I am regually sending games to. Even with the extra postage costs they say they save usually around 10euros on the price of a game. I recently have Call of Duty 4 to a friend in France saving him around 9 euros - after buying a couple of games the saving he's made have been worth the effort.

Otherwise I would highly recommend using a price comparison site to find the best price for your game, one with offers from eBay and Amazon are a bonus.

There are now becoming more and more controllers for the PS3, from many different manufacturers - Joytech, Thrustmaster, MadCatz etc..

In my opinion though the Original Sony Sixaxis Wireless Controller is the best thing to buy, the difference in price is not really that noticable and at the end of the day you have an original item from a great manufacturer.

Apart from ebay and Amazon there are some great shops offering these controllers. Again looking on a comparison site will help you find the cheapest fastest but even some of the high street names have some good offers in store - always worth shopping round a bit before hand.
