PS3 Price Drop
Attention all gizmo freaks out there! Here is a reason for all of you to cheer. A price drop on advanced new versions of Sony playstation3! Well, doesn't that sound great and too good to be true? A latest official press release by Sony claims that an 80GB model of a PS3 is going to be priced at 599$ and a 60GB premium model at 499$ or even less. And to think about it that it comes with a top notch digital toner and DVR, makes the whole deal sound all the more lucrative!
As per a deal signed way back in 2001, Sony has been granted the permission to use TiVo software that was not used in any play station till now. Till date, the only hurdle in cutting down the price of play station 3 was the shortage of blue-violet laser diodes. Now, the shortage being dealt with, Sony can of course think about a price drop According to the new pricing method, the 60GB version, which was previously priced at $599 US, will now be lowered to $499 US. With this solid drop in prices, the sale of Sony ps3 is sure to get all geared up and skyrocket.
Sony's idea to drop the prices of its ps3 was not however welcomed with much of an enthusiasm. At least a few eyebrows were raised ever since the official announcement about the price drop was made. There are some who opine that the idea of upgrading the ps3 from 60 to 80 GB and then pricing it for 599$ is not all that great as it sounds to be. The reason they state for this is that there is not much of a difference between a 60 GB and 80 GB ps3. The decision to cut down prices was based on the findings that Sony had experienced a boost in the sales of its PHPs after their prices were dropped. Moving in the same lines they have now come up with the idea of slashing down the prices of its ps3's and expects it to be a huge success.
Another glad news seems to be in the pipeline for all gizmo freaks! Close on the heels of the Sony ps3 price drop, it is reported that Microsoft has also plans to reduce the price of its Xbox 360. This sort of competitive pricing is sure to do some good to the company as well as its customers. Offering consumers the kind of technology and topnotch features that they would like to have in order to meet their growing needs, any news of price drop on Sony product for that matter is sure to create ripples!
