Your PSP is capable of playing all kind of movies and all you have to do is a convert your video files to PSP format. There are many programs offering these services but I would like to suggest you the best PSP Video Converter program with the most features and for free.

I've been looking for a program which can embed the subtitles to the converted movie (English isn't my mother language so I would like to have subtitles with my movies all the time), I came along PSPVC. This freeware program is capable of converting Avi, DivX, Mov, MP4, WMV and Xvid files to the PSP format. Most important feature of the program is that you can select the subtitle you want to use and you can embed it to the converted movie. I gave a test run for a Xvid Movie and the movie was converted to PSP format with the subtitles without any problems.

The program also has other catchy features you would use. The screenshot feature allows you to take a screenshot from a scene from the movie and your PSP displays the movie with that screenshot in the menu.

The trim feature lets you take a piece from the movie and convert the selected period. You can use the trim feature to preview how will the converted video will look on your PSP or you can just trim your favorite scenes from the movie.

You can also download online videos and directly convert to PSP format. PSP Video Converter supports

You can directly download selected videos from those popular video sharing sites and convert videos to PSP format. You can manage a download queue feature to convert more then one files/movies. (This option is quite useful because converting videos to PSP format takes a lot of time and it makes sense to make a queue and leave the computer for converting at night).

How to Download & Use the PSP Video Converter

You can download the PSP Video Converter from Download link or go to the PSP Video Converter Homepage.

After your installation open the program and you will see the PSP Video Converter Screen (there is a screenshot above). The PSP Video Converter is pretty easy to use. You get to choose if you want to convert a local file or an online file from the upper menu. Once You choose the file you want to convert you have to set the Audio/Video options for the file.

The default audio options is 96 bit rate, 44100kHz with stereo channel. The default options works pretty fine for movies but if you want higher audio quality I advise you to increase bit rate.

In the video settings you get to choose the resolution, bit rate and frame rate of the movie. The default options gives you the suitable video size for your PSP screen. In the subtitles tab you can choose if you want to use subtitles with your movie. (The subtitles will be embedded to video so you can't close the subtitles once you convert with subtitles) You can choose the font and color of the subtitles. The default subtitle color is yellow but I prefer using white.

If you are going to convert multiple videos you can add the movie to the queue and proceed with the next movie. In the lower screen you can preview your video and you can set the beginning and the end of the movie with trim option. You can pause and take a screenshot of the scene with the screenshot button (so that you can use the screen shot in the PSP menu). Once you are done with the setting hit the Start button and let the PSP Video Convertor do the magic. There is Force button if the converting doesn't start but I didn't need it yet. You can upload the video with the program but you can just go to the PSPVC folder and copy the movie and the screenshot to your memory card.

Last Words

PSP Video Converter is a very powerful program with lots of features and it's fascinating to use this program for free. The converting process takes some time so be patient or use the queue feature and leave your converts to night. The movies usually take 400-450Mb of space in your memory card. (I've tried with 700Mb DivX-XviD's). Enjoy watching your movies and leave a comment if you like/dislike the program.
