What is reverse osmosis

Movement of molecules from a region of higher concentration to the region of lower concentration is called diffusion. Movement of molecules from a region of lower concentration to the region of higher concentration through a semipermeable membrane is called osmosis. Pressure is applied in reverse osmosis to reverse the process of osmosis.

Advantages of reverse osmosis purification of water

Reverse osmosis is one of widely used method in purifying water. Reverse osmosis water filter is said to purify tap water up to 98% removing all the unwanted substances found in tap water or well water. As it is found potable water is one of the sources of many diseases, purification has become necessary in modern days.
