Pacifiers

There has always been controversy over whether or not babies should use pacifiers.  It is commonly thought that pacifiers can interfere with breast feeding and there may be some credence to that.  However, most mothers who breast feed don't breastfeed very long mainly due to time constraints especially in today's busy world.  Many mothers work outside of the home now and even though they pump, it can be very tedious and as a result, many mothers just give up and switch to a bottle.

I firmly believe as a mom that if breastfeeding, the new mom should breastfeed as long as possible.  Once breastfeeding is done, there is nothing wrong with switching to a bottle, or even alternating by giving a bottle once in awhile while breast feeding.  Then pacifiers can be introduced because babies need to suck and this gives them the comfort they need.

There are all kinds of articles on why babies still need pacifiers.  Once extremely important fact that has been uncovered in the past few years is that pacifiers are now saving babies lives.  Pacifiers have been known to save thousands of babies from SIDS or Sudden Infant Death Syndrome.  There are numerous articles quoted on google.  Just type in SIDS and pacifiers or Sudden Infant Death Syndrome and pacifiers to see the results.

There are articles that will tell you that the orthodontic shaped pacifiers can aid in the development of your baby's teeth.  There are pacifiers made to help your baby or toddler during teething time as these pacifiers serve as a teething ring and pacifier at the same time.

My Favorite Pacifiers

My favorite pacifiers are made by a company called Luv 'n Care, their Nuby line of pacifiers.  Nuby pacifiers have what are called their patented nuby "nubbies".  The nubbies are raised surfaces on the pacifier nipple or even on the pacifier itself.  The Paci Pals, or Bug Pacifiers are not only functional but they are very cute as well.  They do make you smile when you see them and they, along with the Nuby Soothe Air pacifiers are some of the best selling Nuby pacifiers in the world.

Nuby Soothe Air Pacifiers with Nuby Nubbies

The Nuby Soothe Air Pacifiers are specifically designed to help your baby while teething. Not only do they have the patented nuby nubbies on the silicone nipple itself, but they are also all over the pacifier. My granddaughter has spent many hours chewing on the pacifier and rubbing it on her gums as her teeth are erupting. It does seem to help comfort her. She calls her Nuby pacifiers bink mees. It's really cute and we do have plenty of them laying around for her to grab as needed.

The Nuby soothe air pacifiers are sold in packages of two.  Sometimes you can find them in the retail stores, but they are very difficult to find.  You can find them online at http://shop.nubysippycup.com  and http://www.babypacifiershop.com     They do come in a variety of bright colors and are sold for a very reasonable price.
