A few days ago I published a hub about a 25-year-old Egyptian man who cut off his own penis. I couldn't believe it, but it did happen nevertheless. Now, guess what?

Someone chopped off another penis. This time it was a Pakastani woman who cut off her lover's penis.

Is this the start of new a trend? The beginning of an epidemic?

Two years ago, Muhammad Shehzad went to the zoo in Lahore, a city in the eastern part of Pakistan. That's where and when he met a 30-year-old woman named Jamila. The two of them did more than feed the elephants, and an affair began.

They fell in love and Shehzad told Jamila that he wanted to marry her. But a problem existed - Jamila was already married to someone else.

No problem.

Shehzad promised Jamila he would marry her just as soon as she got a divorce from her husband. So Jamila began the process but, as it works out, Shehzad couldn't wait for his new lady-love. Instead, he married his own cousin.

To say the least, this didn't sit well with Jamila. She, in fact, was infuriated, and swore revenge.

On June 3, Jamila invited Shehzad over to her house on the premise that they would have yet another sexual liaison. She plied him with liquor and got him drunk. And then she cut off his penis.

Dr. Sanaullah ministered to Shehzad at Lahore General Hospital, but was unable to re-attach Shehzad's penis.

"He has become impotent for the rest of his life," the doctor told the authorities, "and he will be unable to preform his conjugal duties. He can never become a father."

Jamila was arrested by Lahore police officers and remained in custody as of yesterday.

Prior to a week ago, there were only two penis incidents in my memory bank. One of those was the infamous John Wayne and Lorena Bobbitt incident in 1993. The other was about a Philadelphia pizza man who was murdered and lost his penis during the commission of a robbery.

I knew about the latter incident because I wrote a magazine article entitled "Pizza Man Became a Human Jigsaw Puzzle" - the true story of the murder of Eleftherios Eleftheriou at the hands of Billy Gribble and Kelley O'Donnell - which was published in the November 1994 edition of Front Page Detective magazine.
