In a recently published book, former foreign minister of Pakistan, Gohar Ayub Khan claimed that Pakistan once came very close to attacking India sometime in 1998.
India and Pakistan, these two nations have always been in cold war since they became independent in 1947. The main bone of contention remains as Kashmir valley where both nations have mooted their claims. The issues like Kargil war and cross border terrorism often bring these two nations on the front page of international news
In the book titled 'Testing times as Foreign Minister', Khan claims that in the event of an attack by India on the nuclear test site at Chagai in Balochistan, the Pakistan Air force would have lauched attacks on pre-designated targets in India.
The relationship between two countries once again soured after the recent terrorist attack in Mumbai, India where plenty of proofs got unearthed regarding Pakistan's involvement. Both nations strengthened their borders in the wake of a strong reaction from India after the attack.
One thing for sure, the two countries are heading towards an imminent clash, even if it be political, once they settle their own domestic issues.
