In the 1960s UK Scooter Scene, a tradition unique to the UK classic scooter shops started. This was the Dealer Special. Each Scooter shop would compete to produce their own unique and individual scooters based on either a Piaggio Vespa or an Innocenti Lambretta. These scooters were often tuned with their own unique paint work and their own identity.

Our own take on this classic tradition has been to produce a unique scooter that is as fun to drive as it is fast.....

Why choose a Vespa Smallframe?

Why choose a Vespa Smallframe?

The simple fact is, out of all the classic scooters the small frame Vespa is one of the most fun to ride. This is especially true of the SS variant, which we are concerned about here. The position of your legs and arms when mounted on the scoot gives a totally unique feeling of complete control over the scooter. With a cylinder kit this means that you can take corners alot sharper than you can in a VBB with a similiar engine displacement.

If a fun fast ride is what you want then we recommend you go for one of our SS dealer specials. You can let us know your requirements in as much or as little detail as possible and we can take it from there.

We are happy to do custom race paints or original looking scooters. On this page we've put a few examples of the kind of work we are doing, if you'd like to see more or higher detailed pictures then please feel free to get in touch.

How we build our SS90 and SS50 type Vespa Scooters

How we build our SS90 and SS50 type Vespa Scooters

For all the SS-type Vespa scooters we build we start off with a standard straight vintage V5 Italian piaggio frames which we clean restore and modify adding parts and hand forming the steel monoque chasis to the Super Sprint type form. This is a long and complicated process, some of which is covered in greater detail in other parts of the site. For the moment we will concentrate on things we do to the V5 frames to give them the authentic timeless SS Vespa look.

Each SS conversion we do will vary to meet your requirements though the basic specs which bring the scooter in line with the original SS90 Vespa are as follows

* 75CC Kitted Piston/Cylinder * SS Race Exhaust * SS Shocks * SS90 Badges * SS90 Dummy Tank with chest rest cushion - for racing stance * SS90 Central Spare Tire (with central inserted painted) * SS90 Standard Seat * SS Rear Light * SS90 Drop bars * Glass Front Headlight (as original) * New SS style Speedo * Grey Grips (As SS90) * Original SS90 Paint colours - Red / Blue / White
