Avocado, food of the gods!

We must understand that, only the foods provided by the earth, are those which, the cells can absorb and assimiliate. Americans exist on diets, low in "Natural foods", as such, the average American suffers from malnutrition, in the form of obesity, and compromised immune systems. When we eat those foods which were provided for all life, in addition to a regular regimen of exercise, our bodies then, function as necessary, promoting balance, systems function as normal, the bloodstream contains the necessary elements, to promote and sustain your life, for sickness free, medicine free life!

Nutritionally, the avocado leads all other fruits in, beta carotene and even exceeds the banana, in potassium. While other fruits gain sugar as they ripen, the avocado's sugar content decreases as it matures. It contains more protein , potassium, magnesium, folic acid, thiamin, riboflavin, niacin, biotin, pantothenic acid, vitamin E, and vitamin K, per ounce than any other fruit. It contains an equal amount of protein to meat, without meats toxicity. It is a true "Super Food'! One that, we should all incorporate into our daily diets!

Proof of the avocado's wealth of nutrition, shows up in the USDA Nutrient Database. Though avocado is calorie dense, (one half cup pureed flesh contains 204 calories), the benefits outweight the concern, over its total fat content of 19.9 grams. Although the avocado is high in fat, it is the good fat which is necessary for optimum growth. 60% of the fat is monounsaturated, 20% is polyunsaturated, and 20% is saturated. The fat content of vegetable sources, cannot be equated with that of animal fats, and trans fats, which cause toxicity. Those fats derived from plants, are beneficial fats, required by the body.

Health benefits, recently avocados have been recognized as a good source of two beneficial compounds: beta-sitosterol, and glutathione. Beta-sitosterol is a widely prescribed anti-cholesterol drug that interferes with the cholesterol absorption, thus promoting lower cholesterol levels. The avocado contains, four times the amount found in oranges, which was previously considered the richest source.

Glutathione is made up of three amino acids, glutamic acid, cysteine, and glycine, that function as antioxidants. The avocado contains, more than three times the amount of any other fruit. Studies have revealed a strong correlation between, increased glutathione intake and decreased risk of oral, and pharyengeal cancer. The decreased risk only occured when the gutathione came from raw fruits, and vegetables.

In selecting the fruit, pick a heavy one with an unblemished, unbroken skin. Bring home a firm avocado and allow it to ripen naturally at room temperature, about 3 to 5 days. If your looking for ripe fruit to use immediately, squeeze gently. The fruit should respond to a gentle pressure, somewhat like a ripe peach. If you leave a dent, it's too ripe, and the flesh will be darkened or black.

The avocado is excellent for the skin, because it is rich in fatty acids, a constituent necessary for optimum skin health. It has the effect of protecting the liver, which can increase collagen production of the skin. Avocado's as we have said can, reduce bad cholesterol levels, protect against many cancer's, the seed is considered, an aphrodisiac, and other health benefits, of which, as person's concerned with optimum health, we must investigate and utilize this, "Food of the Gods", the avocado.

I eat avocados every week,but I never knew it was a high source of protein though,equal to that of meat,thanks for the great info!
