"And the foundations of the wall of the city were garnished with all manner of precious stones." (Rev. 21:19). Let's first in our study take a look at the word "Foundations" What is a foundation? According to Wikipedia; The Foundation is the portion of a building's structure that transfers the weight of the building into the ground. This is the floor or wall upon which the entire building is built. I have read many scholars theories on The New Jerusalem, but have yet to find the correct translation or painting that best depicts this Biblical vision given by God to the Apostle John in the book of Revelation. When I began my study on The Holy Stones and the Breastplate of Righteousness and discovered their symbolic relevance to The New Jerusalem, I began putting all the pieces of the puzzle together and realized that the Breastplate is an exact replica of what is to come! The Old Testament always foreshadows the New Testament, and in keeping with this truth in mind.....we can see plainly how The Breastplate of Righteousness was designed in such a way to give us a tiny glimpse into the New Jerusalem, God's Holy Dwelling place on earth!

Now....with all that said, let's continue. "The First foundation was jasper, the second, sapphire; the third, a chalcedony; the fourth, emerald; the fifth, sardonyx; the sixth, sardius; the seventh, chrysolyt; the eighth, beryl; the ninth, a topaz; the tenth, a chrysoprasus; the eleventh, a jacinth; the twelfth, an amethyst. And the Twelve Gates were twelve pearls; every several gate was of one pearl; and the street of the city was pure gold, as it were transparent glass." (Rev. 21:19-21).

The Stones Featured Below

In Part 2 of this study we briefly covered the distinction between the Breastplate of Righteousness and the New Jerusalem. But let's discuss the relevance. The description of each is of Twelve significant stones laid out upon a perfect square foundation. The stones of the Breastplate representing the Twelve Tribes of Israel, and the precious stones in the Holy City the New Jerusalem represents the Twelve Apostles of Christ. In Hebrew tradition the Twelve attributes of God were represented by these twelve stones mounted on the Breastplate. In Scriptures the number Twelve seems to represent government, or administration. We also find multiples of twelve in the order of God's Universe, twenty-four thrones around the altar belonging to the twenty-four elders. The number 144,000 representing the Tribulation Saints from each of the Twelve Tribes of Israel. (Rev.14.) The names of the twelve tribes of Israel written upon the twelve gates of pearl. Twelve guardian angels at each of the twelve gates. Twelve Apostles of the Lamb, upon which their names are written on the Twelve Foundation Stones of the Holy City. These references from Rev. 21:12-14; reveals that the number Twelve is the most significant number pertaining to The New Jerusalem! 

Twelve is the most divisible number; it can be split into halves, thirds, fourths, or sixths. Because of its divisibility, many mathematicians throughout the ages have proposed that a new numeric system should be developed, in which twelve is the base and not ten. The New Jerusalem reflects that divisibility, having four sides, each with three gates, to make twelve gates in all. As a combination of three and four, it appears to be both static (four as a symbol of wholeness) and moving (three as a symbol of motion and change.)

Rev. 21:19-21; Speaks of the foundation wall, and inlaid in this foundation wall are the Twelve Foundation stones. Each representing the the Twelve Apostles of the Lamb, Jesus Christ. Many Biblical scholars believe that the twelve foundations are represented as layers built upon each other, and inlaid in each layer are the various precious stones surrounding the city. Either theory could apply, although I strongly believe that when Scripture speaks of "the foundation wall," it is referring to the bottom wall of the city. The "Foundation," according to Random House is "The natural or prepared ground or base on which some structure is built or rests. The basis or groundwork of a building." With this in mind, we note that the foundation wall is garnished with all manner of precious stones. The groundwork upon which this heavenly (spiritual) city was built is non other than Jesus Christ, and He set the groundwork for the Apostles to continue to build. (A growing and enlarging city)....All expandable!!

1 Peter 2:4-9 states; "To whom coming, as unto a living stone, disallowed indeed of men, but chosen of God, and precious, Ye also, as living stones are built up a spiritual house, an holy priesthood, to offer up spiritual sacrifices, acceptable to God by Jesus Christ. (Groundwork). Wherefore also it is contained in the scripture, Behold, I lay in Zion a chief corner stone, elect, precious: and he that believeth on Him shall not be confounded. Unto you therefore which believe He is precious: but unto them which be disobedient, the stone which the builders disallowed, (rejected); the same is made the head of the corner, And the stone of stumbling, and a rock of offense, even to them which stumble at the word, being disobedient: whereunto also they were appointed. But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye should show forth the praises of him who hath called you out of darkness into His marvelous Light."

The above Scripture is a depiction of a spiritual city, but if we relate its text to any physical building or structure we have before us the pyramid. The pyramid built upon foursquare, the base being a solid square foundation, the substance of this structure being A Holy Nation, a Royal Priesthood, all being built up upon the foundations of the gospel, which was laid before us by the Twelve Apostles of Christ. The Twelve Foundation Stones; And of course in Zion....the chief cornerstone of this building was rejected, the builders did not allow, as from disbelief, which was Jesus Christ, the stumbling stone of disbelievers. If we examine the great pyramid, we see that the very top is missing. The Top Cornerstone has not been allowed. And will only be completed once the return of The New Jerusalem. 

In the nineteenth century a London editor and critic named John Taylor was a very educated, and deeply religious man who was well versed in Scriptures as he was mathematics, astronomy, and literature. Taylor was extremely fascinated with the pyramids although he never visited Egypt. Instead, he built a scale model of the pyramid to aid his studies. Taylor found to his surprise that when he divided the perimeter of the pyramid by twice its height, the result was a number nearly identical to the value of pi (3.14149+); the constant that is multiplied by the diameter of a circle to give its circumference. To Taylor, this was an amazing discovery: if the pyramid builders were aware of pi, which was not known to have been correctly calculated to the fourth decimal until the sixth century, what else did they know? For one thing, he concluded, they know the circumference of the globe; for another, the distance from the center of the earth to the poles, north and south. 

With pi as the connecting link, Taylor determined that the ratio of the pyramids altitude to its perimeter was the same as that of the polar radius of the earth to its circumference. Taylor decided the pyramid was a structural expression of the wisdom of the ancients, or God. "It was to make a record of the measure of the earth that it was built." He declared.

Charles Piazzi Smyth, an astronomer of Scotland was captivated by Taylor's discovery, and went beyond Taylor to claim that measures of time as well as of distance were incorporated into the building of the pyramid. According to the astronomer, the structure's perimeter, in pyramid inches, equaled precisely 1,000 times 365.2, the number of days in a solar year. In Smyth's book "Our Inheritance in the Great Pyramid" Smyth concluded that only God could have engineered the Great Pyramid. The Bible, he said, states that in ages past God imparted "wisdom," and metrical instructions for buildings" to a chosen few. A prime example is the divine dimensions given for the building of the Temple in Ezekiel 40-48; Exodus 25-40. In later years, Smyth claimed that the pyramid also revealed the distance from the earth to the sun when its height to width was multiplied by ten to the ninth power, ten to the ninth being the proportion of height to width of the pyramid. In addition, the structure not only proved the existence of God but also predicted the date of the Second Coming of Christ. In 1924 a British engineer, David Davidson published an extensive book on the pyramids, concluding that "the pyramid was "Truth" in structural form." 

Who does the Bible claim is Truth? Jesus...."I am the Way, Truth, and Life."

According to some theorists, a factor inherent in the shape of the pyramid, not clearly understood, seems to exert a force that has peculiar effects on objects, plants, and even people. This idea, which came to be known as pyramid power, derives from a series of observations and experiments reported since the 1920's. Werner Von Siemens, who knew a great deal about the science of electricity, decided to conduct a test. Wrapping wet paper around a metal-necked wine bottle, he improvised a Leyden jar, a simple device for storing static electricity. When he held this object above his head, Siemens was gratified to discover that the bottle became electrically charged, generating sparks when touched. I know you, as the reader are probably wondering about now, "what does this theoretical jargon about pyramids have to do with the Second Advent of Jesus Christ and The New Jerusalem?" 

I will tell you that all of this study on the pyramid has not been in vain, and I believe within the next few paragraphs you will discover its significance.

The Great Pyramid was called The Pyramid of Light, or just "The Light." This was because its polished limestone casing reflected the sun's rays, giving it a brilliance that was dazzling. The color of gold, as described as the walls of the New Jerusalem. Jesus Christ, the "Light of the World," is shown in the height of the pyramid of light. To explain this discovery better, we need to understand gematria. The Hebrew and Greek alphabet also represents numbers. Each letter is representative of a number. The height of the pyramid is 5,448.9 inches. Divide its height by the Royal Egyptian Cubit- a unit used in the construction of the great pyramid, (1.72) and the result will be 3,168; which are the exact numbers that spell out "Lord Jesus Christ." Now divide by the number value of the other way to spell Jesus, which equals 688, spelling out, "Jesus is the light of the world." and the result is (7.92); the number that represents Earth, (Earth's diameter is 7,920,000 miles).

The Great Pyramid has been missing its top-stone for centuries. When we look at the photos of the pyramid we see that the very tip top levels, and is flat. Had its topstone ever been placed upon its summit, it would have measured 485 feet to its apex. There is no evidence that its topstone was ever placed, if so, it would have been gigantic, about 31 feet high and 48 feet wide. The relationship of this topstone to the pyramid's square base is as the relationship of the Sun to the Earth, the base representing Earth's orbit around the Sun. The Chief Cornerstone of the Pyramid structure bears the same solar number in gematria, which is 864. Cornerstone adds to 864, as well as the solar number, 864; and spells out God our creator in Hebrew, (which is our Elohim), but also represents Jesus, as that missing stone, as a symbol of Himself. He called it "The Stone which the builders rejected." (Matt.21:42).

Another interesting fact.....I hope this isn't making your head spin as it did mine the first time I discovered this. Is the fact that the inner Sanctuary of the Temple of Solomon, which was the square room called the "Holy of Holies", or "Most Holy Place" in gematria adds up to 864, both in Hebrew as well as in Greek! This room was completely overlaid in pure gold. Solomon's entire temple was overlaid in pure gold inside and out. (1 Kings 6:19-31). 864 being the solar number, is also the number for Life, and the number of God. The fact that it bears the same number both in Greek as well as Hebrew was undoubtedly intentional and important. 864 is the number that represents the source of Life!

Of course all of this is fascinating and may sound a bit New Age to some of you, but we still won't know the exact shape of The New Jerusalem until the coming of the new heaven and the new earth, which according to Scripture does not take place until after Christ' Millennial reign on earth, and after the Great White Throne Judgement. Although we do know that in Rev. 21:10 the apostle John was carried away in the spirit to a high mountain and showed the great city, the holy Jerusalem descending out of heaven from God, and his description was of a foursquare cube. From his perspective, and at such distance, this mammoth city would appear to be the shape of a cube, especially when viewing the bottom, or base foundation. Did you know that the shape of a perfect pyramid can emerge from a perfect cube as seen in the diagram of the Star of David? Notice that the Star of David formed inside the cube is ever changing.

In Hebrew tradition, the Twelve Attributes of God were represented by the Twelve Stones mounted on the Breastplate. Of these stones, we have quartz crystals. It is important to note that quartz has two important properties; piroelectricity and piezoelectricity. As I've stated before; Both are linked to the production of electrical energy; first the heating, the second through pressure on two opposite faces of a crystal. The latter property, by far the more often applied was made famous by the quartz gas lighters, which through simple pressure on an appropriately positioned crystal, created a difference in potential which produced sparks. But if the quartz gas lighter is now a museum object, this mineral has found its use in many advanced technology fields. Its ability to vibrate when excited by alternating current is the basis for the operation of oscillators, radios, clocks, etc...It is noted that the pyramid radiates a source of electromagnetic energy as we read earlier. If this is so....can you even imagine how much energy would radiate from a pyramidal structure the size of a continent, that contained within its foundation wall, or base wall Twelve Foundation quartz crystal stones the size of 125 mile radius each? That's some ENORMOUS power!!

Although the precise colors of these specific stones in the foundation wall may vary considerably according to its type, we know that it's safe to say that out of the twelve stones, the spectrum of the rainbow is present. The six basic colors of the rainbow are; Red, Orange, yellow, Green, Blue, and Purple. Of course there are various shades of each of these primary colors, and indigo as a darker version of violet makes for the seventh color of the rainbow. The colors of the Twelve Foundation stones are merely the blending of the three primary colors, red, yellow, and blue. The range of visible light divides first into 3, then, 6, then 12. These 12-fold colors are; red, red/violet, violet, indigo, blue, blue/green, green, yellow/green, yellow, orange/yellow, orange, red/orange, and then of course back to red, the beginning of the spectrum. 

The visual John describes as The New Jerusalem is one of most incredible beauty, words are incapable of description! The city was designed to reflect the glory of God in a spectrum of brilliant colors, as likened unto a prism. The light of God shining through the various colored foundation stones creates an illuminated rainbow of precious gems. "Having the glory of God; and her light was like unto a stone most precious, even like a jasper stone, clear as crystal." (Rev. 21:11).

Some have suggested that the city will be surrounded with a ball of crystal light; just as the earth is round; it is also speculated that centered in the midst of this prismatic, or cubical city would be a round sphere of light, known to us as God. The definition of EL, the Hebrew word for God is "From everlasting to everlasting," which would imply no beginning and no ending, the concept of a circle. 144 Greek cubits is the size of this Holy City, which is the equivalent for the word "EL."

"And the city had no need of the sun, neither of the moon, to shine in it; for the glory of God did lighten it, and the Lamb is the light thereof." (Rev. 21:23). The city itself is an enormous crystal, like a crystal always the same, yet capable of growth! The city is built on Twelves, not tens to reflect its unusual combination of inherent stability yet its possibility for growth and movement. This holy city is beyond anything the human mind has ever been able to create, or imagine. Its awesome presence will undoubtedly reflect the infinite power and wisdom of the Almighty God!!

THEORY TWO

This enormous 1500 mile cube is not a city or building in the physical form, but of the spiritual form. As the Apostles Paul and Peter state in Ephesians 2:18-22; and 1 Peter 2:4-11      

"So then you are no longer strangers and aliens, but you are fellow citizens with the saints, and are of God's household, having been built upon the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Christ Jesus Himself being the corner stone, in whom the whole building, being fitted together is growing into a holy temple in the Lord; in whom you also are being built together into a dwelling of God in the Spirit." (Ephesians 2:18-22).

"And coming to Him as a living stone, rejected by men, but choice and precious in the sight of God, you also, as living stones, are being built up as a "spiritual house" for a holy priesthood, to offer up spiritual sacrifices acceptable to God through Jesus Christ."

"For this is contained in Scripture: "Behold I lay in Zion a choice stone, A PRECIOUS CORNER STONE, And HE WHO BELIEVES IN HIM SHALL NOT BE DISAPPOINTED."

"This precious value, then, is for you who believe. But for those who disbelieve, THE STONE WHICH THE BUILDERS REJECTED, This became The VERY CORNER STONE, and "STONE OF STUMBLING AND A ROCK OF OFFENSE." 

"For they stumble because they are disobedient to the Word, and to this doom they were also appointed. But you are a CHOSEN RACE, A ROYAL PRIESTHOOD, A HOLY NATION, A PEOPLE FOR GOD'S OWN POSSESSION, that you may proclaim the excellencies of Him who has called you out of darkness into His marvelous light; for you once were NOT A PEOPLE, but NOW YOU ARE THE PEOPLE OF GOD; you had NOT RECEIVED MERCY, but now you HAVE RECEIVED MERCY."

"Beloved, I urge you as aliens and strangers to abstain from fleshly lusts, which wage war against the soul."

1 Peter 2:4-11

Could This Spiritual City, or Building be The New Jerusalem coming down from the sky with all the Saints who have ever lived from the beginning of time, returning with Christ to earth, to live once again in the New earthly paradise? 

Read Isaiah 28:16; It was prophesied.

Woe to Ephraim. Who was Ephraim? The son of Joseph and an Egyptian princess. They had two sons Ephraim and Manasseh. Their native land was Egypt. Ephraim is considered to be the Lost Tribes of Israel. The Anglo Saxon Race. (The English). George R. Riffert, author of Great Pyramid Proof of God believes that the Lost Tribes of Israel are Ephraim and Manasseh. Ephraim being the UK; and Manasseh representing the United States. Hmmm......Interesting food for thought. I will delve into this theory in my next Hub.
