This week, a friend brought me his laptop, with Windows Vista, that didn't start up. It showed a BSOD with the error message:

- process1_initialization_invalid; 0×6B

If we tried to boot in safe mode, it got stucked in the file "crcdisk.sys".

We've searched the net and find out that several people had the same/similar problem, but none of their solutions worked...

The principal worry was to recover the files in the drive!

This happen trying to win a little more space in one of the drive's partition. For that, Partition Magic 8 was installed (now I know it doesn't work on Windows Vista...) The instalation went without problems, but then when we run the program we got the message that some errors were find on the disk (error 110) and it asked if we wanted to correct it. We said "yes" (big mistake from us...) and the system just frozed!

We rebooted and it stopped in that BSOD that I refer earlier...

Again searching the net, we saw that this is a familiar problem with Partition Magic 8 and Windows Vista, but no one knew how to fix it... And just one of the guys got the system to not boot, like we did..

The solution that this guy pointed was to use ghost to make a image from the disk, reformat the partitions and restore the imagem!

We wanted to try to fix the partition without have to format it. We knew the files were still there because with erd commander we could access the drive and see the files...

We tried to fix the boot files with vista, make a repair, but it didn't worked...

We didn't have time to make experiencies to try to restore the partition without formating it, because my friend needed the laptop to work! So we used erd commander to backup all the files, and then used the recovery cd which camed with the laptop to fix the partitions and reinstall everything...

It was not a brilliant solution...Has anyone had this problem? Did you managed to solve it in a differen, easier way?

I think you'll have to format the disk and partitions. Just try to backup anything you can!
