Party Kitchen: Make Your Kitchen Party Central

We all know that some of the best parties can take place in the kitchen. Whether it's a large family get-together over the holidays or just an impromptu gathering with a few friends, everyone loves to congregate in the kitchen. And why not, the kitchen is probably the most informal and easy-going room in the house. With a little planning and attention to detail you can revamp your kitchen into the perfect spot for entertaining.

Nothing has more impact on a kitchen than a fresh coat of paint. White will make any space look bright and clean but don't be afraid to use color. Of you need extra light consider adding a ceiling fan. Hunter ceiling fans has a great selection that will look great in the kitchen and help keep it cool at the same time. Great lighting can completely change the atmosphere of the room and you can't go wrong with Hunter ceiling fans. Add pendant lights over island surfaces and task lighting over other work areas. Use small round puck lights or even rope lights with clear bulbs placed at the back underside of the cabinets for a soft glow.

Small Touches Can Add a Big Impact

If your kitchen cabinets have seen better days, why not paint them as well? Once again you can't go wrong with white but today's trends are leaning toward bold colors especially in enamel finishes such as red, industrial gray and even black. Just remember that certain styles of cabinets might not work well in all colors. Look through your favorite magazines and home remodeling sites online to get some ideas. Then let your own personal tastes and style be your guide. Add new cabinet hardware including hinges, pulls and cabinet knobs.

Remember it's important to have a lot of surface areas in your kitchen. This includes things like countertops islands and tables. These serve the dual purpose of providing lots of work space for food preparation as well as space for a busy family life, and is a big plus when entertaining as well. It allows you to set food out buffet style and gives people a place to set their drinks.

Cozy up Your Kitchen with Seating

Along with the surface areas, don't forget seating. Bar stools work great for counter height spaces and informal seating for conversation while you prepare food. Have extra seating for the table, even some folding chairs you can bring out if needed. Consider adding a kitchen banquette. It can make an otherwise empty corner feel like a cozy restaurant space and provide a place for every day meals and great conversation as well.

Also make sure you have an area where you can set up small appliances like blenders for mixing drinks, food warmers or electric grills and have them in a safe area where they won't accidentally get knocked over. It's important to remember to keep things safe so nothing will spoil the party.

If you entertain a lot then you know how important your kitchen can be. Some how people just naturally navigate toward the kitchen. Most likely it because it reminds us all of growing up and times spent with family. It reminds us of home. So of course it's the place we all want to be. It's a great place for an informal party and comfortable conversation. It doesn't take a lot to add a few updates, from special touches like paint and cabinet hardware to installing a Hunter ceiling fan, you can easily make your kitchen the life of the party!
