This hub is going to outline all of the different party supplies you might want to consider when planning any party, gathering or social event.

Balloons & Accessories

Balloons are a must-have at any party. Made from rubber latex or foil, available in a full spectrum of colours and an array of shapes and sizes.

Balloons can easily be chosen to complement a themed party or specific colour scheme.

Balloon weights can be used to secure helium filled balloons to a tabletop or dancefloor.

For an extra sophisticated finish, groups of complimenting balloons can be grouped together and fastened using a coloured ribbon.

At the end of the party, children love to take a balloon home as a reminder of the party.

*TIP* If you are having your helium filled balloons delivered early, choose darker coloured balloons, as the thicker material is less porous and it will take them longer to deflate.

If you are worried about the enviromental impact of using balloons, take a look at the eco-friendly anf fully biodegradeable ribbons and balloons in the link below.

Always keep uninflated or pieces of popped balloons out of the reach of children, as they pose a choking hazard.

Invitations

Party invitations are a great way to set the scene of the party before it has even started.

To start with, bearing in mind the capacity of the venue and your catering budget, make a list of the people who you would like to invite.

You can choose between handmade invitations or from the wide range of party invites available on the market.

Besure to keep a copy of the original guest lists so that you can check off RSVPs as they arrive and chase up anybody who you haven't heard from as the date moves closer.

Banners and Bunting

Trimming up a party venue is one of my favourite activities. Banners and bunting turn a drab and empty room into a fun and inviting space for all of your guests.

Banners and bunting that are made from cloth look really nice and can be re-used year after year. See the link below for a Fair Trade cotton bunting pack that I really love.

Place banners around the entrance or driveway so that the guests can see where the party is as they approach.

Be aware that some venues don't like hirers using stickytape or pins to attach banners to their walls, in this case, make sure you have plenty of riboon, string or non-marking blu-tac handy.

Tableware

If you have decided to have either a buffet or sit down meal at your party, you will need to invest in some tableware.

Disposable tableware is usually made from cardboard or polystyrene. Although it is only designed to be used once, it can sometimes be a bit flimsy.

Semi-disposable plates, cups and bowls are made from plastic and can be washed and stored ready for the next party.

I wouldn't advise you to use your best crockery at a party as breakages often happen which can be dangerous and costly.

Another positive feature of disposable and semi-disposable tableware is that it ios available in a wide range of colours and patterns to suit the theme of your party.

Confetti

Although confetti is often synonymous with weddings, there are lots of varieties of confetti that makes it ideal for a number of different events.

There are all sorts of shapes of confetti that will suit the party. Champagne bottles, glasses and mortar boards would obviously be ideal for a graduation party. Green shamrocks would add an extra sparkle to a St Patrick's Day party and the range of balloons, love hearts, birthday ages and stars can be combined to suit whatever party you're throwing.

Confetti can be placed on tables, inside invitations and around the party venue.

Favours and Loot Bags

Party bags are a lovely way to say thank you to your guests and give them something to take away as a reminder of the event.

A popular choice is to continue the theme of the party by filling the bag with small trinkets.

Party bags aren't just for kids, adults can enjoy a bag filled with treats.

A really nice touch is to make the paryt bags yourself, they aren't too difficult to make if you brainstorm some ideas and personalise each one with a ribbon or bow.
