The capital of Nepal Katmandu (Kathmandu) is placed at a height of 4521 feet surrounded by a valley that is laced by green terraced hills. The capital is further surrounded at a distance away by some of the world's tallest mountains.

It is home to UNESCO world heritage site that contains many Buddhist and Hindu monasteries and temples that includes the Durbar Square, Temple of Kumari, Swayambhunath, Bouddhanath Stupa and popular Pashupatinath Temple.

Pashupatinath temple is the Nepal's most sacred Hindu temple. The complex is situated across the holy river of "Bagmati". The temple's history spans back to the 4th century A.D. while some date it back over a period of a thousand years. The temple was built as a form of a pagoda with its roofs laden with gold.

Pashupatinath is considered as one of the most important Shiva (Pashupati) temple in the world. Hindu pilgrims come there from all over the world, but mostly from Nepal and India. The temple within the complex is an amazing sight with pilgrims, semi-naked sadhus or the Hindu holy men and pilgrims taking bath in the river.

Currently non-Hindus are not allowed inside the main temple complex. However tourists and non-Hindus are allowed to visit the surrounding areas.

Nepal is home to the best Rudrakshas in the world
