1. Your dream can either take you to heights you never could imagine or you can choose to let it die and be buried in the complacent tomb of fear, marked by the cold stone of the ordinary.
Sigmund Werner Paul Jähn (b. February 13, 1937) was the first German cosmonaut. In 1976 he was selected together to train as the first cosmonaut in the Intercosmos program for 2 years Flew on board Soyuz 33 to the Soviet space station Salyut 6, and returned with Soyuz 29. He spent 7 days, 20 hours, and 49 minutes in space.
He said on his return from Space. “Those who have gone into space have come back with a changed perspective and reverence for the planet Earth. Gone are the political boundaries. Gone are the boundaries between nations. We are all one people and each is responsible for maintaining Earth's delicate and fragile balance. We are her stewards and must take care of her for future generations.”
Alas those wonderful words of Sigmund Jähn’s comment on his return from space, were not to be for in Math 16: v3
2. And as he sat upon the Mount of Olives, the disciples came unto him privately, saying. ‘Tell us, when shall these things be? ‘What shall be the sign of thy coming, and of the end of the world?
4 And Jesus answered and said unto them, “Take heed that no man deceive you.
5 For many shall come in my name, saying, I am Christ; and shall deceive many.
6 And ye shall hear of wars and rumours of wars: see that ye be not troubled: for all these things must come to pass, but the end is not yet.
7 For nation shall rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom: and there shall be famines, and pestilences, and earthquakes, in divers’ places.
3. In the last 20 years the Earth has suffered war, famines, and pestilences, and earthquakes, in divers’ places. In fact within the first seven days of 2008 there were 5 earthquakes. Now we have had one in Indonesia, China, Japan, New Plymouth NZ, and San Francisco USA.
8 All these are the beginning of sorrows.
9 Then shall they deliver you up to be afflicted, and shall kill you: and ye shall be hated of all nations for my name's sake.
4. And then shall many be offended, and shall betray one another, and shall hate one another.
Brother hates brother; Families Hates Families; Islam hates Christian; Palestinian hates Jews; Athiests hate Religion:
11And many false prophets shall rise, and shall deceive many.
12 And because iniquity shall abound, the love of many shall wax cold.
13 But he that shall endure unto the end, the same shall be saved.
14 And this gospel of the kingdom shall be preached in the entire world for a witness unto all.
5. Putting some perspective into those words of Jähn, he did not say the World would end, if we did not look after the world. In the last 4 years, momentum has gained on how the Earth was going to self destruct in 50, 100 or even a 1,000 years, because of man’s contribution to carbon emission.
There are still a tremendous number of people and Governments who disagree with all the information being given out about climate change. We all have had a backyard gardens and cared for them and replenished those same gardens over the years. To my knowledge none of us threw the baby out whilst emptying the bath. So why do we now allow credence to the destruction of earth because of all this information on Climate change?
God created the earth, man woman and all the creatures. There are vast pieces of information becoming available to all of us about petroleum and other like products and how man is destroying Planet Earth. One would have to agree that we, humans are not helping Earth with those same Carbon emissions our mode of transport allows. Making our cars less reliant on their present fuel would be a marvelous idea, especially at today’s costs are rocketing. Governments around the Globe are endeavouring to convince us, they are creating a new world for our grandchildren.
This rhetoric makes one believe that, we are quick to forget that God created the Earth and all the creatures on it. We all know that God’s Plan after Adam and Eve defaulted in the Garden of Eden, was to give Birth to his Son Jesus Christ, through Mary for the remission of our sins. He allowed his Son to die on the Cross for the Remission of our Sins.
6. He did not allow Christ to die for the Earth to disintegrate in Fifty thousand or even 100,000 thousand years from his creation, through man’s greed. We are continually being told about the end of the Earth, by carbon emissions, because the
7. heats of the carbon spark igniting the World. The blame was placed on the petrol guzzlers of today.
8. When the Dinosaurs ruled the Earth for 160,000,000 years just on 100,000,000 ago they also had a carbon warming of their Earth. It is not known what caused that carbon warming of the Dinosaurs.
Some of us say Earth is only seven thousand years old. The Bible as we understand is of a period of this time literally. Then again in God’s eyes how long is a day? 24 Hours, 7 days make a week. That is what Humans believe. God’s timing is not human’s time, so why do we build walls around God. Yet we are told right through the Bible that God knows our innermost thoughts, so why do we have to prove to the finite and thus limit God’s power over us, on his ability to know what we do and think?
9. Matthew Chapter 18 NIV
1At that time the disciples came to Jesus and asked, "Who is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven?"
2He called a little child and had him stand among them.
3And he said: "I tell you the truth, unless you change and become like little children, you will never enter the kingdom of heaven.
4Therefore, whoever humbles himself like this child is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven.
5"And whoever welcomes a little child like this in my name welcomes me.
6But if anyone causes one of these little ones who believe in me to sin, it would be better for him to have a large millstone hung around his neck and to be drowned in the depths of the sea.
7"Woe to the world because of the things that cause people to sin! Such things must come, but woe to the man through whom they come!
The Parable of the Lost Sheep
10"See that you do not look down on one of these little ones. For I tell you that their angels in heaven always see the face of my Father in heaven.
12"What do you think? If a man owns a hundred sheep, and one of them wanders away, will he not leave the ninety-nine on the hills and go to look for the one that wandered off? 13And if he finds it, I tell you the truth, he is happier about that one sheep than about the ninety-nine that did not wander off. 14In the same way your Father in heaven is not willing that any of these little ones should be lost.
10. Paul Sheehan on 28th July SMH Places Carbon Emissions into Perspective.
The largest and most aggressive consumer product of this era is arguably the Hummer, the Tyrannosaurus Rex, delivering a monstrous four kilometres to the litre. Kim’s new car will do better than 6.1 litres to a 100 Km. at probably a 20th of the cost. It is a metaphor of corporate decline and consumer arrogance.
Unlike the Dinosaurs of 100,000,000 years ago, this dinosaur had a spectacular but short reign, only 20 odd years. It sprang to life in the 1980s as America's largest vehicle maker, General Motors, was so infatuated with this new road monster it bought the Hummer brand in 1998. Ten years later, with sales plummeting in the wake of the latest oil shock, GM has announced it is "reviewing" its Hummer division. General Motors itself is also under review today.
Anyone who purchased GM shares as a long-term, blue-chip investment has seen their investment plunge 70 per cent in the past four years and by almost 90 per cent in the past decade. The New York share market closed on last Friday week, GM's shares had sunk to $US11.90, for a market value of $US6.74 billion. In 2000, GM's market capitalisation was $US55 billion. Headlines on Sunday the 3rd. GM suffer $US15, 000,000.000 Losses. For years, we've heard about the approach of peak oil, driven by the statistical reality and inevitability of rising demand and static supply. General Motors gambled that peak oil was beyond the horizon, while its Japanese rivals spent years and billions of dollars developing fuel-efficient cars and hybrid technologies.
Oil is not the only crucial commodity that has more than doubled in price during the past year. The cost of rice and wheat has also collectively doubled. Inflation is back. The cost of oil, wheat and rice have all doubled in less than a year, it is a once-in-a-generation signal of change in the real cost of consumption. In places with strong population growth, this cost is even higher. How will encouraging, increasing the population by a million people every three years going to contribute to lowering Australia's carbon footprint? Coal will be even more difficult to control and with China, the World’s most populated Country bring on Australia’s Ascendancy as the largest Coal Miner in the World.
We have read many times over the last fifty years how the Major Oil Companies have stifled one’s ability to get out of the Petrol frenzy. They are on record that they make only one cent per litre Profit. Now the eggs they laid are coming home to roost. What is the next money fired dream going to be.
We must have Faith in God’s plan for his Kingdom and the time of that Kingdom’s arrival on Earth. We do know that we are not going to be told, but the signs will be there for us to see.
11. Mark Ch 13: v32
32 But of that day and that hour knoweth no man, no, not the angels which are in heaven, neither the Son, but the Father.
33 Take ye heed, watch and pray: for ye know not when the time is.
34 For the Son of man is as a man taking a far journey, who left his house, and gave authority to his servants, and to every man his work, and commanded the porter to watch.
35 Watch ye therefore: for ye know not when the master of the house cometh, at even, or at midnight, or at the cockcrowing, or in the morning:
36 Lest coming suddenly, he fined you sleeping.
37 what I say unto you I say unto all, Watch.
12. More years than I care to remember, when I was 15, a Gentleman whom I had a lot of faith and respect in became a Mentor to me. This man taught me a lot about life, and perhaps managed to instill a little wisdom? He told, showed and tutored me in Passion as a word and a meaning. His most remembered comment: - “If you want to impress people, show them a spark of Passion.” A short ago time my Mentor died at the age of 94. He sent me a birthday card for my 70th year. I still remember Allan.
This is just some of the sentences he gave me as a young man.
‘When you talk with and show Passion, you become a power figure bringing confidence and knowledge to the table with you and people will stop to listen to you intently.’
‘Do it properly the first time, but do it with Passion.’
13. D.H. Lawrence phased it better.
“Be still when you have nothing to say; when genuine passion moves you, say what you’ve got to say and say it hot.”
“Every man without passions has within him no principle of action, or motive to act.”
Claude A. Helvetius
I was a callow youth, who unwittingly placed others into embarrassing positions.
Here are two examples of Frank’s youth. Our Sunday School Class was taken by our Sunday School Teacher to the Auckland Gas Works, where John worked. There was huge piece of tar lying in a puddle for some reason or other. I taunted some young ladies, so they retaliated and chased me. I jumped the tar pit, they did not and their shoes became very tarry and I became very teary, when my mother found out. (Mum’s famous nerve steadier.)
The nest escapade set up by Frank was at Sunday School, the seating arrangements were long stools with wooden bar for backrests, just like those old ones at West Ryde. Frank would carefully take the long hair of the young ladies sitting in front of him and tie them around the bar. When they stood up to sing a hymn, they would be pulling up the stool with their hair. Did I get into trouble, as I was sent home early by John, my Sunday School Teacher? Mum was sick in bed and when I arrived home early, she became very upset with Frank. As she was too sick to give me a nerve steadier, (wedding ring finger across the nearest ear.) That is why I have Cauliflower ears. I realized that I was turning in to a troublesome teenager
That is when Alan, my mentor, stepped in and turned my willful ways into a passion for doing well instead of destruction. With persistence and patience he showed me the error of my willful fun. He sold peanuts all over the North Island, right up to the top of the NI. I would go away with him during the School holidays, in his van for anywhere up to five days. He talked, he guided me and he taught me about Passion mixed with perception
So this great word Passion has been in my mind for almost 60 years. Whatever task I am involved in I show Passion for what I am doing. My involvement in any matter or project, I always bring my Passion with me.
14. “I can’t”, “I can’t”, “I can’t”, “I won’t”.
Passion is the attitude to loose the “I Can’t”. In the world we live, there are many, many people giving into “I Can’t”. These people try something once, or never at all, and then they say “I can’t.” “I can’t sing.” “I can’t sell.” “I can’t speak in public.” “I can’t ask for a raise.” “I can’t move up in life.” They’re right you know. One symptom of the insidious “I Can’t” syndrome is that we begin to believe it ourselves and once we believe we can’t do something, we go about proving ourselves right. “I won’t”, “I won’t” “I have been involved with Salespeople who continually would say “I can’t do that.” So where does passion come in? When we experience true passion for something we become an unstoppable force. We stop wasting precious time thinking of reasons why we can’t and, like a bulldozer, we begin to push aside the obstacles in our path.
People with passion still experience fear, that clutching in the chest that makes them think of taking the easy road out by saying “I can’t”, but they don’t give up. Why? Because of the Passion, they hold inside themselves, their passion overrides their fear when they want to give up. I never use the phase ‘I will try’, as in my mind I am setting the parameters for failure. ‘You cannot blame me for failing after all I tried.’ I must admit I grit my teeth when I hear someone say those words. I know they have reserved themselves to failing.
What can passion do for you? When a person is passionate about something they are on fire and their fire can light a fire for others around them. Are you passionate about our Call with Christ, where he gave his life, that we may live in God’s Kingdom? Are you passionate about your friends and family? Are you passionate about your work? Do you represent a product that you could passionately promote and watch it fly off the shelves? Do they feel your passion?
15. Passion in your life can be like icing on an already delicious cake, making it even better.
The dictionary defines passion as “a strong liking or desire for or devotion to some activity, object or concept.” I define passion to mean a deep caring, caring enough about something to stick with it in the good times and the bad. When you are truly passionate about something people will hear it, they will see it and when they are with you they will feel your passion. The passion becomes a fire burning brightly from within you.
How do you become passionate? Passion can start by letting yourself feel passionate about something, anything. Challenge yourself today to feel deeply and passionately about at least one thing. I love the exuberance of youth. My Sons have frequently said in the past things like “This was the best day of my life.” They lived for the moment, passionately savoring their life. As I write these words I am sitting by an open window, where I think I can hear the Sea, listening to birds singing and Val playing a CD of the beautiful floating music of ‘Moon River.’ This is one of our old favourites. I feel a soft breeze on my skin. I almost feel as though I can sense the turning of the earth. I am passionate about life. I love to drink in each moment and savor it on my tongue.
I am also passionate about helping others to experience the unparalleled joy of having passion for life. It’s a funny thing about passion, it grows. When you begin feeling passionate about something or someone you will find that your feelings for other parts of your life and other people will grow as well.
16. Two or three moons ago, (A short time) I became the NSW Sales Manager of an Australian Publisher., with nine different Publishing Companies of some wonderful books.
As the Passion from Frank illustrated that books could be sold differently and he had convinced management to reward All Salespeople with a competition of leasing a five door van to all who achieved a certain turnover in a three month period. The Powers to be come up with idea of sending Frank every 4th Friday night interstate at 4.00 PM. These weekends were called “Frank’s Flying Circus”. Dinner followed by a Sales Meeting for three hours. Saturday All day session, extending into the night. On the Sunday, after a late brunch, another five hours, were used up in group formations, from 11.30 AM to 4.30PM. These weekends were mandatory and there would be 20 to 40 People to listen to “Frank’s Flying Circus.” Someone would always do the Introduction as when a Guest Speaker is to be announced and naturally would be very nice to that Guest Speaker.
“Frank is well known to all of you.” La di da….. “I have never seen anyone that puts so much Passion in to any project they are involved in ‘He is Mr. Passion himself’.”
All very flattering, still it got the desired results from everybody present at the meeting. Frank’s Flying Circuses became an overnight success and four more salespeople in addition to the 16 of 143 Sales people across Australia, were able to achieve the turnover required, to be given a new Mitsubishi five door station wagon. This of course is to illustrate what a little bit of Passion would do, in any situation.
Val called my attention to this segment on Oprah.
17. $100,000 to give Children in South Africa to help them learn. By a young school girl, whose passion raised that money. This young Girl was picked by Ex President Clinton by helicopter and took her to Oprah. He was so impressed by this young lady’s Passion. He asked her what her next goal was.
Without any hesitation “$1,000,000” was the reply, she did not hesitate, her passion gave the answer. A friend of BC gave her $500,000 towards her next goal. Bill Clinton also gave her a significant sum of money. In your mind, how long do you think it would before the young Lady gained her total of $1,000,000?
Passion Coupled with a PMA with a little touch of Faith will achieve Wonders.
18. As Christ Said “Faith can Move Mountains.”
What are you going to begin feeling truly passionate about today? Feed that fire inside you and begin to spread that flame. There’s a whole world out there that needs to feel the warmth of the fire of your passion. Live with passion!
19. Two mites. Mark ch 12 V.41Jesus sat over against the treasury, and beheld how the people cast money into the treasury: and many that were rich cast in much.
42 And there came a certain poor widow, and she threw in two mites, which make a farthing a fraction of a penny.
43 And he called unto him his disciples, and saith unto them, Verily I say unto you, that this poor widow hath cast more in, than all they which have cast into the treasury:
44 For all they did cast in of their abundance; but she of her want did cast in all that she had, even all her living.
Verily I say unto you, If ye have faith as a grain of mustard seed, ye shall say unto this mountain, Remove hence to yonder place; and it shall remove; and nothing shall be impossible unto you.
We have all felt the sting of doubt. Whether it is a doubt of God’s power to save us in a particular situation or doubting the very existence of God, this lack of faith is extremely confusing and painful to endure. God knows our faith is small. It was Jesus, God made flesh, who said that if someone has faith the size of a mustard seed he can move mountains. He, being God, has infinite strength. Even though Abraham had so little faith he couldn’t believe that God could provide him a single heir, God gave him an entire nation of descendants. God understands our frailty far better than we do; so if you have faith in God, any at all, then it is sufficient for God to do His work through you.
What are you going to begin feeling truly passionate about today? Feed that fire inside and begin to spread that flame. There’s a whole world out there that needs to feel the warmth of the fire of your passion. Live with passion and grow in your faith.
Passion – This is a powerful word - What is passion, how do you know it when you experience it? Passion is easy to confuse with other strong emotions. It’s easy to confuse passion with anger, with lust, with obsession, with madness, or better still can we confuse passion with compassion? There are many references of compassion in the bible but none for passion
There is hardly anything more beautiful or valuable to humanity than the God instilled inbred passion that inhabits the very depths of who we are. That passion is a dream.
20. Your dream can either take you to heights you never could imagine or you can choose to let it die and be buried in the complacent tomb of fear, marked by the cold stone of the ordinary. The cold stone of the ordinary has no unique shape or embellishments, mass fields of missed opportunities are lined with their identical markers with no future identity.

Melanie,
you are sweet and cute .
That was a nice comment,
So thank you
Thank you Mr. Marmalade. What I love about your hubs is they are never even a little bit like anyone else's. You are truly one of a kind. Thank you for sharing your thoughts here.
Lifeline for GM
Headlines Sunday the 3rd were that GM has sustained losses of$US15, 000,000,000.
On August the 5th the mad Australian public is defying the universal trend of the big four wheel vehicles. 20,000 sold in Australia in 2008. Obviously not all of those sold are GM. Maybe they will make some money in Australia.
pgrundy says,
your hubs are never even a little bit like anyone else's.
Your are kind, I never want to be like others. I may be on par with others,
I want to excel on my own abilities. If I do not make the grade, there is only one person to blame.
Thank you
Dear MRM, The carbon warming when dinosaurs ruling the earth might be because of the emission of co2 and co from many number of active volcanoes.
Your feelings may be very correct.
My point was that it may have killed the Dinosaurs, but the earth still existed.
May be these very friendly creatures had to go to allow our cavemen and ladies to be created.
Thanks for your thoughts.
Personally I only believe in predicting the past. ;)
Thought-provoking hub Mr. M.
That is probably a safe bet.
Although a bit like having a dollar each way
Thank you
you are unique. thanks for reminding us of things to come, I think...sooo, It's going to get worse??? lol
Hummers are a curse on the world! So are most SUVs and 4X4s, which are in the main completely unnecessary.
Thanks for an interesting Hub, Frank.
Love and peace

Man oh man oh MAN....Where would I EVEN start on this one! :}
I have lots to say but I will TRY - try realllllllllly hard to keep it short as I can.
#1 - who ever thinks a child is Humble doesn't have any kids!!
(They are NOT humble, but they are innocent and perhaps that is the true meaning and we, who have become UN-innocent cannot go back there - one cannot un-know what one already knows)
#2 - no one KNOWS what killed the dino's but Barney is still purple and kickin ;}
(and so are snapping turtles and a few other dinos)
#3 - All throughout History these things above have happened time and time and time and time again...over and over and over. In Germany during mass slaughter, I am quite sure there were many people who *imagined* it was the end of days then too -- as well as in the Roman empire...as well as....how far back do you want to go? Man has been a horrific cruel creature since forever.
Betraying and hating one another since there were only a few of them. Nothing NEW about that!
#4 - " in divers’ places." hummm...must be a new wave version of the BIBLE as I have not seen that in that sentence before.
#5 - "he did not say the World would end,.............Earth was going to self destruct in 50, 100 or even a 1,000 years, because of man’s contribution to carbon emission." No - it was said that no one would know the day or the hour but that it would have Nothing to DO with what Man did or did Not do. It would be the choice of the Creator when the Creator would end it. But was Very clear on saying that man would KNOW it was NOT man who had ended it. We may make ourselves sick and glow-in-the-dark and have 3 eyes before the END but...WE won't be doing it according the the BiBlE--Period.
#6 - I have SEEN faith *move mountains* - I cannot doubt what I have experienced.
#7 - Mr. M - you are sweet and cute and I don't understand your hub...?
