Pathfinder Movie Review
63Pathfinder : Legend of the Ghost Warrior
This weekend my wife decided to rent the movie 'Pathfinder : Legend of the Ghost Warrior' to my dismay. The cover of the movie alone as enough to set me off of watching it. She thought it looked like a bit like 'Apocalypto' and blockbuster's user reviews of it had a few brilliants. They must have been retarded or something. The movie was horrible. While watching it you could tell they really tried hard to make it good, but they just went overboard in too many areas of the movie and made it rather stupid.
The plot of the movie revolves around a Viking boy, Karl Urban who was left behind by his people after they attacked a Native American village. He is raised within the tribe and becomes an accepted member, but is haunted by his origins. Eventually, the Norsemen return and he must become the saviour of the Native America people. I don't want to give much more away or it'll ruin the movie, wait... they did that on their own.
The thing that annoyed me the most about the movie was the Norsemen. They were just too overdone I found. Their outfits were so large and bulky that I was amazed they could move at all. It was also nearly impossible to identify their faces in most cases. the same person could of been in every fight scene and died and you'd never be able to tell it was the same guy again. The main villain, Clancy Brown, is the only one I recognized due to his very unique voice.
The movie has a long fight scene in a cave which I prayed would just end. It was another one of those great fight scenes that was so dark you could never tell what was going on. Lots of closeups of people climbing up rocks and hiding behind them and someone randomly being attacked. Though you couldn't tell if it was the main character or a Norseman being attacked You just had to kind of assume.
The movie wouldn't be complete without a love interest and a resulting rivalry, both of which was added in for filler it seems because they took up maybe 5 minutes of the whole movie. There wasn't a long struggle to win the maidens heart. It was pretty sad actually.
Without giving away more the movie I will say that the ending scenes were so unbelieveable that you wanted to fast forward through them just to end the misery of the movie. Luckily my wife agreed that the movie was bad and I got the satisfaction of saying 'I told you so!'.
I rate this movie - 1/5
