Pattaya is one of Thailand's first holiday villages, and today a
frightening example of a city built without any kind of planning. The
need for a tourist town arose when foreign troops, mostly American,
have a place to relax on their breaks. The choice fell on Pattaya, then
an ordinary Thai fishing village, but in a few years was built several
concrete hotels and ladies took bars. Neighborhood was
destroyed, crime rose and Pattaya tourist town which was completely out
of control.
The city got a bad reputation, it has
nevertheless tried to clean up and attract families, but it is many
years late, half-empty hotels now lies alongside the street kitchens,
go-go bars and temples. Although the Thai warmth and hospitality also
found here, this field is a bad choice if you first visitors will
experience Thailand, Jomtien and Pattaya can hardly fail to give
tourists a bad impression of the country.
Pattaya: Pattaya is a relatively large village, a couple of hours drive
south of Bangkok. The town is built around three parrallel roads, Beach
Road, Second Road and Third Road and across those three roads, North
Road, Center Road and South Road, which also run parallel to each other
(see map). Between these roads are of course a myriad of side streets,
called Soi. It is around Beach Road and Second Road that most tourists
turn their brochure, here are virtually everything you need: Not Proof
of bars and restaurants, banks, shops, Internet cafes, massage clinics,
tailors, etc. In return the city owns no trace of comfort and charm,
there is too much and sticky with English and German bars, mixed with
the famous go-go bars, where you can buy for it can not get elsewhere.
And it is not only in the evening that these bars, the doors, even the
middle of the day you get a show with girls. It is said
that there is luget in Pattaya go-go bars, but is it true, I would not
want to have seen the "old" Pattaya. By evening time, similar to parts
of the Wild West town where hundreds of bars open and the hunt goes
into the local prostitutes. Several places there are large bar with a
rash of people in some of them is a boxing ring middle of it all, where
14-year-old Jack is fighting thai boxing, but the music passes on out
into the tropical summer night.
Around the large area with go-go bars with glitter neon light e.g..
"Boys-town," young prostitutes in schoolgirls uniforms waiting for the
next client, and the bars are trying by every means to get you into
their place. Bybilledet is dominated by European men who almost all
have been with a Thai girl 15-20 years younger than themselves. But it
is not hard to find anyone who takes care paid for it, every bar has a
number of girls seated clear if there were puppet customers.
Restoration Life is one of the better things in Pattaya, between eating
places with sauerkraut and baked beans are fortunately also excellent
Thai restaurants. There is also McDonalds, KFC, Pizza Hut etc. Pattaya
has got a water front and is quite pleasant to walk along, but you are
bombarded with offers from street vendors. Markets also exist in
Pattaya, tourists will probably be most interested in the 'Made in
Thailand market, a few narrow streets filled with e.g.. copy clothes, shoes,
belts, etc. Product provision does not differ significantly from what
you might buy in Pattaya's stores. The market is on Second Road between
Soi 10 and Soi 11 The city is actually a bit of a shopping paradise,
markets, department stores and shopping centers, there are several.

TRANSPORTATION
Virtually all transportation in the region made with the so-called
pigs cars where you sit on the left. There are plenty of them and they honks continually to draw attention to themselves. Should from Jomtien
to Pattaya you just jump on one of the pigs ride cars as they are all
the same way. When pressed again by Monday at the clock and keep the
car immediately into the page. When you jump on a ride pick up truck cost 10
baht each. person from Jomtien to Pattaya. You can also use a pick up truck
as a private taxi if you have a specific goal here agreed a price
before you drive. But do not it if you just drive from Jomtien to
Pattaya, the driver would gather up the other way and you have paid 80
baht to pay your fellow passengers 10 baht. So hop on a ride pick up truck.
Visit one of the area's attractions are often fixed, so the driver
waits for you and drive you back. On the North Road in Pattaya which
buses depart for Bangkok. They run every half hour from 5.30-21.00. It
costs approx. 90 baht in the bus without air conditioning and ca.99
Baht with air conditioning.
Food & Drink
It is cheap to eat in Thailand at a Thai restaurant can be a meal
available for 15-20 kroner but rain with some higher prices for
so-called international restaurants as Pattaya has plenty of. Wine is
quite expensive, even the local drinking whiskey and water or beer to
food. Should it be really cheap, there is the small street kitchens,
but there are also opportunities for those who can not do without food
at home. Thai food is very nice, ingredients such as coconut
milk, chili and spring onions are used widely. Here are some
restaurants I can recommend:
Ruen Thai: Large cozy Thai restaurant on Second Road opposite to
the Marriott hotel. Versatile menus and entertainment every evening.
Try also an Irish Coffee, but the show is all worth the money.
From Pattaya Restaurant: Local restaurant with cheap food.
Extensive menus. Located on South Road as low where pedestrian street
starts.
Vientiane: Good restaurant with food from Laos and Thailand. Located on Second Road.
The beach in Pattaya
Jomtien and the Gulf
The beaches in the area are not the best. Jomtien Beach is very
long and the farther away you get from downtown, the better it. Islands
off Pattaya is an excellent alternative. The good beaches are available
at Koh Samet. There is a large tidal difference at all beaches and
strong currents can occur, especially in the rainy season.
ACTIVITIES / ENTERTAINMENT
Nong Nooch Tropical Degree: Large tropical garden with a small
zoo, e.g. tigers. Moreover elephant show. Also beautiful cactus garden.
Located approx. 10 km south of Jomtien on Sukhumvit Road.
Pattaya Park: Large park or carnival if you like. Can tllbude tower jump. waterland oma. Located between Pattaya and Jomtien.
The Million Year Stone Park & Pattaya Crocodile Farm:
Beautiful area with stunning bonsai trees and animals in too small
cages, worse here than elsewhere. Entrance is 300 baht. Daily crocodile
shows.

both, at a price of approx. 300 baht. A regular passage available for
approx. 100 baht. At low tide the boats alongside the pier in extremely
Pattaya, so it can be quite breakneck to come to the right when you

find excellent beaches, the vast majority choose the main beach where

destroyed the majority of corals, but are lucky you can on good days
still get a good snorkletur. If you want to stay on the island, it is
also possible that there is only one resort, the Koh Laan Resort has
bungalows from approx. 1000 Baht per. overnight. Note that Koh Larn is
visited at weekends and public holidays because it is a popular
destination for locals.
KOH SAMET
Approximately 1 hour drive and a short boat trip from Jomtien /
Pattaya Koh Samet is one of Thailand paradisøer. Most people choose a
day trip but it can certainly recommended to spend a few days here. The
most popular beaches are Hat Sai Kaew (Diamond Beach), and Ao Wong
Deuan on the island's east coast. It operates from the town of Ban Phe
on the mainland and return the boat at approx. 16.00. Virtually all
hotels and tour operators can arrange a trip to Koh Samet which is
collected at their hotel and put the same place. If you choose to stay,
it can be done about. DKK 150, depending on standard. The beaches on
Koh Samet are dazzling white with crystal clear water in the dry period

about Koh Samet here.
BANGKOK
Only a couple hours drive from Jomtien / Pattaya is Thailand's
capital Bangkok. Here, you will find all the historical sights and
kulturrelle as Pattaya area actually totally devoid of. Bangkok's
biggest attraction is undoubtedly the Grand Palace, the Thai kings
dwelling until 1946. It was Rama 1 founding the large area and
virtually all subsequent kings contributed buildings. Its main temple
is Wat Phra Keo containing the holy smaragdbuddha. Grand Palace is full
of beautiful temples and you can easily just hours to go to study the
fine detail of traditional Thai architecture. There are strict
pålædningsregler to visit the Grand Palace, ie. shoulders must be
covered and men should avoid shorts, but like Sarong. A trip to the
king of Chao Phraya River can also be recommended. It is a fine way to
experience some of Bangkok on Monday when her avoid the chaotic traffic
in the city's streets. In addition to the river is bla. Wat Arun,
temple of dawn and the city's landmark, EAC's old buildings are now
home to the famous Oriental Hotel and National Museum. Sail Monday off
clone like Chao Phraya's tributaries, one sees a completely different
Bangkok by Watsai can still see remnants of the town's floating market.
Bangkok offers endless possibilities, a couple of nights here is
certainly not too much, read more about the city here.
It is hardly wrong to say that Pattaya area mainly focuses on
entertainment and active holiday, historical monuments and beautiful
nature is not just around the corner, but is fresh on the long run, can
paradisøen Koh Chang and the beautiful Khao Yai National Park
recommended.
