Sometimes there are situations that call for immediate action and sometimes that action is getting your hands on some money as quickly as possible so that you can get something paid off before it becomes a much bigger problem. Maybe your car broke down and needs a quick fix, maybe you are one more late payment away from getting a disconnect charge from your cable company or maybe you had some unseen medical emergency pop up out of nowhere. Running into these types of situations isn't that big of a deal if you have enough cash flow (or your friends or family do) to take care of it. But, if you are already in a situation where you won't have enough money to get it taken care of and you won't be seeing any more money coming into your bank account until you get paid again, then considering a cash advance or a payday loan to get you the cash you need might be the way for you to go.

Despite the somewhat bad reputation that is given to most payday loan lenders, getting a loan from one of them is completely legitimate and regulated by the state and federal government. Even an online, faxless payday loan is a great source of financial funding when you need it. Payday Lenders Vs. Traditional Lenders

One question that comes up a lot when it comes to cash advances and payday loans, is "Why don't you just try to get a traditional loan from a bank?". This is a good question that actually has several different answers that apply depending on what your current financial and personal situation is like. Getting a loan from a bank, if possible, would always be a great idea because no matter what cash advance lenders you're working with you're still going to be stuck with some really high fees that you'll have to pay back once your loan payment is due. Traditional loans have much lower interest rates, but often more complicated and require more time when applying for one. Here are some other reasons why someone would choose a to work with a payday loan lender over a traditional bank lender:

  • Traditional loans, especially unsecured loans, require that you have a credit check when you apply. The credit report that they get on you plays a major part in whether or not you get accepted for the loan. A payday lender on the other hand will never run a credit check on you when applying. You will just need to show proof of a certain minimum monthly take-home income, a checking account and a few other things before they can approve you.
  • Traditional loans take some time to apply for and have to go through several layers at a bank before they can get approved. Cash advances and payday loans on the other hand are built for speed and can be approved in a matter of minutes as long as you apply at a retail store location. When they say cash advance now, they really mean it.
  • Sometimes you only need a fairly small amount between $100-$500 loaned to you and most traditional lenders wouldn't consider this a large enough loan for them to spend time on. On the other hand, a cash advance or payday loan is basically made for these levels of loans and can usually be approved very quickly with no problems.

Traditional loans have their place in the financial world, but as you can see they aren't exactly made for some of the situations that a payday loan or cash advance is made for. But, always remember that just because payday lending is convenient for these particular emergency types of financial situations, they should not be considered as a way to increase you cash flow on a regular basis.

Other Options Besides Applying For A Payday Advance Loan

Now, I didn't want you to finish reading this article without feeling like you had some type of alternative to seeking out payday loan lenders when you're looking for fast cash. Like I said before, these payday loan companies are a legitimate way to get some quick money in your bank account, but they should only be used when you feel like you don't really have any other options when it comes to finding cash lenders to help you out of your situation. Here are some other possible ways that you could get the money that you need that won't require you to apply for a cash advance:

  • Use a credit card: Now, credit cards aren't exactly the best way to take care of emergency money situations either, but the amount of interest that you will pay for a credit card is much lower than that of a cash advance.
  • Beg your friends and family: Your friends probably wouldn't mind helping you out with your cash crunch, but before they can do anything for you you're going to have to ask them to help. A little embarrassing? Maybe. But isn't that what friends and family are for?
  • Sell something that you own: Need some money quick? Take that stereo, purse or whatever else you have that you can afford to get rid of and throw it on Craigslist for a day and get some money out of it. You can have some cash in your hand the same day if you get enough of your stuff posted.

These options would be great alternatives to getting a cash advance and if one of them happens to work out for you, then that's great. But, if you do end up going to payday lenders to help you out, then be sure to know what you're getting into and be sure to pay it off once the loan is due. Don't ever make a habit out of getting these types of loans as they will only make you worse off than you already are.
