Pedigree Class Action
Nationwide Class Action Lawsuit Filed Against Pedigree Pet Food Companies and Retailers For Misleading Consumers Regarding the Contents of Pet Food
"Premium" Pet Food Marketed and Sold as "Complete and Balanced" Has Historically Contained Such Items as Euthanized Dogs and Cats, Restaurant Grease, Hair, Hooves, and Diseased Animals, and Other Inedible Garbage
The Plaintiffs maintain that these companies have spent $300 million a year in making false and misleading marketing statements regarding the contents of their pet food to the dog and cat loving American public. While these Defendants tout their pet food products as choice cuts of prime beef, chunks of chicken, fish, fresh wholesome vegetables and whole grains to induce consumers to buy them, the Plaintiffs contend the food is actually made from "inedible" slaughterhouse waste products of the human food chain such as spines, heads, tails, hooves, hair, and blood. Rendering companies who process this waste have also added other inedible "waste" such as euthanized cats and dogs from veterinarian offices and animal shelters, road kill, zoo animals, rancid restaurant grease, toxic chemicals and additives. Additionally, dead animals and those declared unfit for human consumption due to disease and illness are also placed in the mix.

Which ever pet food you decide to feed to your dog or cat make sure it does not contain Corn, Wheat, or Soy. These three grains are toxic to cats and dogs and will kill them. Corn, wheat, and Soy cause fever, ear aches, bloating, itching, flaking skin, inflamed liver, inflamed kineys, heart conditions, blindness, bad breath and dental conditions, and death. - Susan Peters

This is November 2007, what's the status on the lawsuit? Anything resolved?
Trish,
I'm not sure what the latest news is on the Class Action. Everything has a course to follow and the Class Action is on course. At this time there is not a resolve. I'll keep you posted as news developes. These things take time but I don't know for sure how much time.

I am a breeder, and have had problems with puppies since I began to feed my weaning puppies Pedigree in a can approximately a year ago. A couple of days ago, in speaking with another breeder who had the same problems as I was having, we put two and two together and discovered that she, too, had been losing puppies on the Pedigree canned food. The symptoms of her puppies were identical to mine, and her necropsies from the state lab showed the same results as mine. After consulting numerous veterinarians, I was never able to determine the cause. I would like to be a witness for the plaintiff on this matter. Who do I contact? Are there other breeders out there who have mysteriously lost puppies and aren't sure why? I am no longer feeding Pedigree, and hope that my troubles are over. The unnecessary loss of these precious puppies is sickening, and only wish I could have arrived at this as the cause months ago. I can be contacted for additional comment at 501-258-6851, and would encourage any other breeders who have been affected by this to join this legal action.

Rememeber, corn, wheat, and soy are killers to cats and dogs. Feeding these three ingredients is like feeding antifreeze in small doses.
Thanks for letting us know what is going on with your puppies.

I had to take my dog tot he vet and paid $280 because of him vomitting. He eats the pedigree and has for for years. His sister ate if all of her life and she died 2 years ago of cancer. I'd like to know if I can get any or all of the $280 back.. they ran tests for antifreeze poisoning and it came back neg. They said it must be the dog food that had been recalled.
