Few women will talk about the problem, so few women who really need it understand the importance of pelvic floor exercise.

If you are one of the many women suffering from incontinence, you may be wondering why this has happened to you. Incontinence can be frustrating and embarrassing. Although the problem affects a large amount of women yearly, the causes are numerous. Incontinence is caused by weak pelvic muscles.

Over time, the muscles that originally controlled your bladder and bowels may have loosened. Additional causes are: Going through a pregnancy or vaginal childbirth, Carrying around a few extra pounds, increased age, having a cough that doesn’t go away, or having genetically weak connective tissues. Clearly there are many reasons the incontinence may have begun.

If you are one of the many women suffering from this condition, you may be looking for a way to solve the problem and return you to great pelvic health. You may not have known it, but there is a simple solution.

Pelvic floor exercises
have been used for many years to strengthen those pelvic muscles. With strong pelvic muscles, your body easily is able to control your bladder and bowels. Pelvic floor exercises can be practiced by women of any age, and are simple and effective at strengthening the specific pelvic muscles needed to control your bladder.

It is a great idea to add pelvic floor exercises into your daily routine. The more you work on strengthening your muscles, the more improved your pelvic health will be. Pelvic floor exercise, like kegels, have been used in the past to help improve muscle strength. However, there are some new exercises more recently created, that are based on Pilates.

Pilates is a form of exercise that can be modified to any age, or strength level, which makes it perfect for every woman to try. By practicing these easy exercises often you can make the choice to improve your pelvic health, rather then just suffer the consequences.
