Pensacola drivers
57For those of you that don't live in or around the Pensacola area be very thankful. For those of you that do BEWARE. I have lived in a few places in the United States and visited a lot more in and out of the states. I have never seen drivers as bad as in Pensacola. My family and I moved here to Pensacola in October, 2003. Since that time twice someone has ran a stop sign and come close to killing me. The first time was June, 2005. A woman ran a stop sign and hit my son and I causing my car to hit two parks cars. This should have been an indication to get out while getting was good but we stayed because I was already being treated by doctors here for my injuries. The second was in October, 2007. I was hit by a delivery that(yes you guessed it) ran a stop sign. It hit me hard enough to push my Jeep across two lanes and up over a curb. That was not a good day. I spent 30 minutes being cut out of my vehicle. Now... I am not an unreasonable person. I do understand that people make mistakes and sometimes it can result in someone else getting hurt but here is the thing. Both of these drivers accepted responsibility for their actions or even attempted to apologize for their mistakes.
I guess I should have started of by telling you I am a fire fighter here in Escambia county. I have been a fire fighter for 18 years. I have responded to and worked a lot of wrecks in my time as a fire fighter. Pensacola seems to have a way above average number of wrecks. Most every car you see on the road here has dents, dings, scrapes, or is being held together with duct tape from accident damage. The county built a fire station right around the corner from what is called car city here. This is basically where all the major auto sales lots are. The reason the fire station is so close is because it seems that people here aim for new cars or cars that don't already have some damage on them. Even homes and businesses are not safe from the bad driving skills here. I have seen one house driven into three times since we have moved here. I have in the last two weeks seen four businesses get a drive through as a result of a bad driver. My husband describes Pensacola as the worlds biggest demolition derby and I have to agree with him. The two people that almost killed me proved it to me.
Those of you that don't live in or around the Pensacola, Florida area be very thankful. For those of you that do BEWARE because you will not own a nice car for long. It will be dinged or dented in no time at all. If you have a business or home here build a sturdy fence of gaurdrails around it to protect it because they will give you a drive through that was not in the original plans for the building.
