For those familiar with the beloved books of Percy Jackson and The Olympians, written by Rick Riordian, this is definitely one of the most anticipated book-to-film series since Twilight. Percy is a boy who doesn't focus in school, and gets into trouble thanks to his temper. He gets sent to boarding school, where he feels the pre-algebra teacher is shapeshifting and trying to kill him. When his mother discovers this, she decides to send Percy to Camp Half-Blood in Long Island, New York, where he discovers something incredible: Turns out he's the son of Poseidon, God of the Sea.

The first installment, The Lightning Thief, sends Percy on the journey of discovery, about who he is, where he's from, and most importantly, to the Underworld, where he has to stop a war brewing with the gods. The teaser trailer (below) is enough to get super-fans excited and wait in anticipation for the movie to come out in February, 2010.

Many dub it as the next Harry Potter, having all the elements that bring in the tweens galore: a young kid, magic, action, friendship, first love, etc. As more develops, I'll keep you posted!
