Permanent Hair Straightening
75What is Permanent Hair Straightening?
Permanent Hair Straightening, also known as relaxing, is a process in which the basic structure of wavy or curly hair is straightened.
Before & After of Permanent Hair Straightening
Japanese Hair Straightening
Also known as Thermal Reconditioning, Japanese hair straightening is a long process which uses the combination of heat and harsh chemicals to straighten the hair, reducing curls and kinks. An average session can take up to 4 or more hours, depending on the length of your hair.
Brazilian Hair Straightening
Although Brazilian Hair Straightening is not a premanent treatment, results can last up to 4 months. Strangely, the more damaged your hair before the treatment, the longer the results last.
Brazilian Hair Straightening uses Keratin, a natural substance which is the same main protective substance in our hair, nails and skin.
Another ingredient used in the Brazilian Hair Treatment also known as BKT, or Brazilian Keratin Treatments, is Formaldehyde. Formaldehyde is a toxic chemical and aggressive carcinogen and if inhaled can cause symptoms such as runny nose, sore throat, headache, itching, and irritated eyes when exposed to low levels.
Some Brazilian Straightening Treatments claim to be Formaldehyde Free where as others claim they only carry a low % of the harmful chemical which is used to hold the Keratin in the hair.
Either way, before choosing this process do your research and talk to your stylist.
