There are many aspects to consider if you are thinking about writing your own last will and testament. Writing your own will can be a very positive and fulfilling experience. After the required research into your state's specific legal requirements, you will be thinking about and making decisions on very impactful issues. This is a time of reflection and appreciation for what you have and those that have impacted your life. Take advantage of this opportunity to communicate to the people that you are thinking about most during this process.

One of the biggest negatives is that you can make mistakes that range from minor to the worst case scenario of having a non-valid will after you pass away. It is critical that you become educated enough to make sure you meet all of the specific requirements of your state. Another negative is that the process of writing your own will becomes overwhelming enough that you don't finish your will.

Is writing your own will a reasonable thing to do? It certain is and has been done by many people without any problems. It really comes down to doing the research necessary to really understand the rules and requirements to craft a valid will in your state. If you are willing to spend the time, you can create a valid will and enjoy the process.
