I started my interest in personal growth by commencing a practice of yoga, hatha yoga to those who know more, some 20 years ago. I got into that via a decidely unusual approach.

I had long been interested in 'out of body' experiences, so I bought a book on the subject. In there was the advice that people experienced with yoga would find it easier. So I started practicing yoga. They didn't mention that the most relevant aspect was meditation. No matter, I faithfully practiced for some years.

It was some years later that I learned that the primary object of yoga is to speed up personal development. By this time I was hooked and I had already experienced a lot of changes caused by the yoga.

Fast forward some further years and I discovered the concept of people developing mentally to different levels. This really amazed me and I studied it hard as it was quite complicated. I learned about Abraham Maslow, then Dr Scott-Peck, Ken Wilber and most recently Dr. Susan Cook-Greuter.

During this time I had also begun reading about finance and becoming more knowledgeable in that direction. I read the 'Rich Dad' books by Robert Kiyosaki, amongst others. I also read many books on high achieving.  I discovered that, as I progressed in my personal development, it seemed to make more sense to be self-employed or a business owner, rather than being paid just to produce something for someone else.
