Lotions and aromatherapy

Transform your bathroom using items to create a personal  day spa and enjoy a spa-style escape in your own home. Most items can be bought at leading drug stores at their on-line sites or in person. Creating the “feel” in your own bathroom can be done on a tight budget and not all items have to be purchased at one time.

Soothing lotions
The body will absorb certain lotions quite readily such as cucumber and melon lotion. Neutrogena produces a light sesame formula that’s part lotion, part sesame oil and it won’t clog pores. Soy and shea butter lotions are also effective. Eternal minerals is a brand my wife especially enjoys.

Aromatherapy
A favorite lotion of ours is a vanilla-black currant massage lotion from Bath and Body Works. Simply open the bottle, warm it up and it fills the air with a pleasant aroma even if you don’t use it to massage.

Candles, music and tubs

Candles
Lighting is an excellent way to create a relaxed mood even in a bathroom. Have scented candles like lavender for scent and for lighting.

Music
Playing soft music or relaxation CDs while soaking in the tub is one way to provide a temporary escape from everyday stress. Wire the bathroom from an existing speaker system or simply buy a dedicated CD player and keep it hidden away in the bathroom so it’s there when you want it. Have CDs in a moisture-proof holder to protect against humidity.

Clothing
A fluffy, comfy robe is one way to relax and feel wrapped up in something soothing before getting into a bath or after drying off. Keep the robe hung up or tucked away for the times you want.

Storage
Having the items stored away on a dedicated shelf space and well-organized allows preparing for your spa experience to take as little work as possible. Keep items in a translucent containers that are labeled.

Have a pillow to use in the tub. The tub itself can be quite regular or purchase a portable spa for around $ 3,000 or less. Tubs with water jets will cost from $ 3,000 to $ 6,000.

Web sites for Walgreens and RiteAid carry many products ideal for a personal spa experience at an affordable price.

Or create a “personal spa experience” gift basket for someone you love or want to inspire to pause and refresh.

These simple steps can make a “spa lifestyle” possible at home.
