Cell phones - You either love them or hate them...some of you even love them and hate them at the same time. A new device (at least in the USA) is about to offer relief to those that are on the hate end of the spectrum.

Situation:

You are in a restaurant and the person in the booth behind you is talking loudly on his cell phone...even worse...his ear piece is so loud you can actually hear the other end of the conversation. If you ask him to stop the call...you risk having an uncomfortable dinner at best. If you don't say anything...your night is ruined anyway.

Solution:

You pull out your handy Personal Cell Phone Signal Blocker and hear all wireless calls within 40 feet fade away. Leave the device on... and the rest of dinner will be ring free.

Similar devices have been used in some countries by venues such as movie theaters but the personal pocket sized model is a new kid on the block.

Now before you go jumping up and down about no more annoying calls in your vicinity I would think about the following:

1. Remember this will block YOUR calls as well (only other people's calls are annoying...remember ;-)

2. What if you block an important call to a doctor or other emergency professional?

3. Legality of scrambling calls may be questionable.

4. More RF radiation.

5. You could block someone's 911 call.

6. Other services in the blocked frequency ranges may be affected.

The handy little devices will set you back around $50 to $80 and different models have different features and ranges. The jammers are available all over the internet under such names as CJam, CX-200, and the generic device simply known as "Personal Cell Phone Signal Blocker Device."(specs below)

.

- Creates enough interference to block all cell phone signals around you (GSM/CDMA/DCS/PHS/3G)

- Fully metal construction - creates a solid and techie feel

- Creates a 0.5M ~ 12M (about 2 to 40 feet) radius of cell phone signal black out area

- Built-in 1500mAh battery lasts 3 to 4 hours, also works and charges on AC and Car 12V power with including adaptors

- Light (6oz) weight, fits-in-a-pocket size

.

Perfect for the following senarios:

- Class rooms and small seminar halls

- Meeting rooms and board rooms

- Private offices

- Bus and vehicles (imagine how you can finally have a good undisturbed nap)

- VIP and privacy-sensitive senarios

So... If you just can't stand living in a world of instant mobile communication...then relief may be around the corner. Just be sure your "relief" won't cause a risk to someone else. I hear it is not currently legal for a U.S. citizen to use one of these... but that may change pending legislation allowing venues such as movie theaters to use them. Currently if you are caught using one of these...you could be in for an $11,000 dollar fine.
