What makes a successful sales person? What are the personality types to make a sales person as successful? He needs to be outgoing and have empathy.He should stay persistent and be optimistic. Normally, he is a highly organized person and the modern marketing world demands him to be a techno savvy person too.

Outgoing

One of main goals of the sale proceess is to build a very good rapport with customers. Customer may be introverts or extroverts.But sales person needs to be an extrovert and an outgoing personality to move with the customers and influence them to make the purchasing decisions.He should also have good listening skils to hear the voices of the customers to understand their needs in a best way.

Empathy

The sales person should listen the customers with lots of empathy.The ability to accurately sense the reactions of other people and to recognize the clues and cues they provide allows you to relate effectively to them.If you can relate with them empathy, you can build trust and influence them with a personal touch.

Optimistic

The way to achieve consistent sales success is all about the art of influence and persuasion.At times, selling can be very stressful, demanding and paved with many obstacles. Having motivation in sales will enable you to maintain a positive outlook when faces with such obstacles and ultimately overcome them.

Persistent

What is the one trait all successful, high achieving salespeople have in common? It is nothing but persistence.Persistence in sales requires a high level of motivation and is very challenging but the rewards can be great.Here is an interesting quote. "For every person who will say yes, there are twenty who will say no. For a positive response, you must find the twenty-first person."

Organized

Any sales role requires a very strong organizational skills. A successful sales person needs to bounce the balls here and there and do this in a highly organized way.You need to plan for meetings, travels, customer appointments, making powerpoint presentations, and answer the questions by the VP of marketing.You have to stay tuned to many activities at once.

Techno-Savvy

Earlier, the sales person had to understand the computer concepts like operating system, powerpoint presentations and excel spreadsheets.Now he has to understand the web 2.0 applications like how to use Google Spreadsheets.He also needs to understand the online marketing concepts like SEO, Google Adwords and social networking sites like Linkedin & Facebook.

I don't agree with point one Outgoing.

Contrary to belief there are sales people who are obnoxious and loud and are still making sales.

There are the shy kind, who also are making sales.
