Perth, Australia
70So, I realize that this request was for a specific blogger, but when I saw the subject of the hub was about Perth, I couldn't resist!! I have a good friend who lives in Perth, and am planning to spend at least a summer there in the near future.
Perth is in Western Australia, right on the southwest coast. It's the fourth largest city in Australia, with a population of about 1.5 million people.
It's got its own airport, making it easy to fly to. Getting around within the city is even easier, seeing as the city's public transportation system is widespread and relatively easy to use. As a city, it's easy enough to get around on foot, or by bicycle.
There's plenty of things to see in Perth as well. First, and most obviously, are the beaches!! Perth is right smack on the coast, making the beach not only easily accessible, but a must-see. For anybody feeling particularly adventerous, the area does offer one nude beach, Swanbourne.
Perth has it's own "hub"- the Perth Cultural Centre, where one can find the art gallery, Perth Institute of Contemporary Arts, the museum and State Library. There's also the Perth Mint, where you can watch real, Australian money being coined.

For the more entertainment-oriented traveller, Perth has plenty for you as well. First, there's The Wheel of Excellence- a 13-minute-long Ferris wheel ride to give an overlook of the city and the nearby Swan River. It's $15 for adults and $10 for anybody aged 12 and under.
Even better is the Perth Zoo, which is free for all visitors. Great for a family, or anybody who would just love to see some animals! There's free guided tours, and some "fast facts" available for download before you head over. Buses can take you directly to the zoo, making it even more convenient.
For the older travelers, there is the Burswood Entertainment Complex, which houses a casino, theatre, bars and pubs, and other spaces in which concerts. Nearby is the Burswood Dome, which can accommodate 20,000 spectators for things such as tennis tournaments, and international concerts.
Another interesting thing to check out would definitely be Australian Rules Football. It's unlike American Football, or rugby, making it something unique to the country, and fascinating for any sports enthusiast from any country.
There's plenty of places to shop, though Hay Street and Murray Street malls are the center of Perth shopping. Places to eat are abundant, though late-night dining can be difficult to find, especially on the weekends. The nightlife in Perth is great for people of all ages, especially considering the legal drinking age is 18, making any city in Australia great for the young traveler.
Fortunately, the worst of your problems in Perth, as far as safety is concerned is sunburn! True to some stereotypes, the locals are friendly, so long as you're polite to them as well! Just use your common sense, and you should be quite well.
I realize this isn't horribly detailed, but the information is generally from a primary source- a resident of Perth I'm good friends with! Perhaps once I make my voyage over there, I'll be able to offer some more insight. =]
