Sundar C has 2 heroines in his film 'Perumal.' One heroine was chosen right away. Since it was a glamour role, Namitha was a sure choice.

The other role is somewhat homely. To get a heroine to do a homely role in a Tamil film is more difficult than getting Cauvery water. After quite a struggle, they have signed on Meenakshi of 'Karuppusamy Kuthagaikarar.' There was a recent news that Meenakshi did a photo session for Bala's 'Naan Kadavul' so she could well be the new heroine of the film.

But Meenakshi has given call sheet for 'Perumal' so it is certain now that she will not be acting in 'Naan Kadavul.'

Chief Minister M.Karunanidhi launched the audio of Perumal on Friday evening at a five star hotel in Chennai. The film has Sundar.C, Vivek and Namitha in the lead and is directed by Vincent Selva.

Chief Minister came for the audio as his grandson M.K Muthu Arivunidhi, has rendered a song for the film. Arivunidhi is the son of M.K Muthu, Kaurnanidhi's eldest son. The film has music by Sreekanth Deva.

The song Kathal Vaipokamey…. is a remix of an old song from K.Bhagyaraj directed Suvar Illatha Chitringal. Bhagyaraj received the album from the Chief Minister at the function.

At the function Karunanidhi spoke at length about the importance of having Tamil titles for films and upholding Tamil culture in films.

He also said that the present day film makers had great freedom compared to those in the 50's and 60's when there were a lot of unnecessary interferences from the censors.
