Peruvian Jewelry

Peruvian Jewelry is handcrafted in the Andes region of the country.  Peruvians have been making jewelry for centuries.  Because of the Peruvian artistry, they choose to use the silver metal as it can be coiled and refined into beautiful shapes of jewelry pieces.  The country of Peru with its mountains and drylands has a multitude of gemstones in which to fill the coiled silver, either fine pieces of jewelry.

Craftspeople of Peru have been passing down the intricacies of their fine jewelry craftmanship for generations,  The people of  Peru pride themselves with their jewelry craftmanship and no two pieces of their jewelry looking  the same.  Peruvian silver pieces have been improved from generation to generation with the refinement of technique with the use of the silver metal.

Jewlery making is a tradition in Peru and will continue on in improvements and technique but with much effort. The industry has become more commercial as industrialization has speeded up the process to make the fine and beautiful pieces of jewelry pieces.  The advent of the computer has brought the historical craftmanship of the Peruvian people to every corner of the globe.

Jewlery making does not seem to cease in Peru as the country become more industrialized.Peruvian people have added to the industry with silver pieces to augment homes and people.  Except for welding the gemstones onto the crowns of rings and bracelets, the silver designs are still for the most part handcrafted by the craftspeople of Peru.

Because the computer has globalized the  Peruvian  jewelry industry, craftspeople are looking for other artistry to add to the econonmy of the country.  Historians are concerned that the wayward look to other means of making their economy work may lead to Peruvians turning out less of the beautiful sterling silver jewelry that has been in the families of Peru for generations.
