One Reader Angry At Veternarians For Scamming Us Out Of Our Money And Killing Our Pets.
Many of you come to the AskSusanPeters site to see the latest reviews on pet foods and the ingredients used to produce these foods. I have been known to show videos of pets and the effects of the pet foods they consume to help pet owners become more aware of what is going on with our pets' health issues. The latest video report was about a dog named "Harley" and the awful shape he is in. Harley's health concerns are due to the pet food he has been fed in the past and the pet food he eats today which is "prescribed" by Harley's vet. The vet has scammed thousands of dollars out of Harley's pet parents and has never bothered to tell them what the real cause of Harley's "Cushings Syndrom". The vet continues to scam Harley's parents and is getting away with it. This is a must see report and can be viewed here. Harley is dying.
I get pretty emotional in Harley's video so I am unable to complete my true feelings on the matter - near the end of the video. One reader was able to express the feelings I have on the subject of pet food and pet care better than I have ever been able to do. This reader has provided us with valuable information and pretty powerful thoughts on one of my publish pages at AskSusanPeters Pet Care page. It is my fear that every pet owner will not see the blog so I am going to do something very unusual and clear room on my "soap box" for "Deceived and Defrauded".
The following is the blog posted on AskSusanPeters Pet Care page just as it appeared on that site. Decieved and Defrauded - the soap box is all yours! ~ Susan Peters.
Hi Susan,
Cushing's Disease has got to be the last straw. What kind of drugs must they "prescribe" these poor animals? Pet owners: Please ask these media people just where is the MEDICINE in those "prescription" foods, and to please have somebody justify the PRICE of it after having reviewed the INGREDIENTS?!
Apologies for this long post, but pet owners must really speak up once they realize they've been deceitfully conned and their trust so blatantly betrayed. How sad is it that we MUST DEPEND ENTIRELY on the Internet to be remotely informed, when Brittany Spears' every breath is force-fed us every waking moment? Veterinarians are telling their trusting clients to feed that which makes the pets SICK(ER) because of a profitable conflict of interest. Just what does a pet parent do if they have no Susan Peters/Internet to ask for the facts?? I urge everyone who has had pets on "prescription formulas" suffering from various, chronic ailments only to be drugged up (Cats on Insulin; dogs on Steroids ...antibiotics for urinary and stone issues...) to submit news tips http://www.nbc11.com/contactus/index.html; , contact Animal Lawyers who would investigate, and please file complaints with the Federal Trade Commission to end the deceptive, fraudulent conflict of interest which is veterinarians "prescribing" and selling food which has been proven to be detrimental to the species' health? There is NO medicine in those cheap fillers. This is FRAUD (just READ those ingredients to confirm this -- NO MEDICINE AT ALL), and violates consumer laws in many states which prohibit misleading consumers with utter falsehoods. And note what unknowing pet owners PAY for a bag full of sawdust, soy and corn -- believing their pets will actually get better!! Look at all the DRUGS your pets are on!!

Wal-Mart and all those other stores, which supplied foods which killed pets, got sued. Now just who PAYS Wal-Mart for their trusted medical treatment, advice and guidance? We can provide all the evidence in the world on these posts proving that these foods are pet killers, but what good is it when veterinarians are still telling everybody differently -- and everybody will, of course, believe them because they trust them?! My own SISTER still feeds dry -- despite the fact that her pet happens to be a feline -- a strict carnivore! Can doctors sell cigarettes to Cancer patients? Yet how can a vet NOT know a feline is obligatory carnivore! Those "vets" keep DIABETIC cats on dry cheap filler-laden food when such "diet" is WHAT caused the DIABETES IN THE FIRST PLACE! ").

The MEDIA needs to know that it is our right to be informed, and the Internet is required for a consumer to remotely have a clue. I also request that they ask a vet who is selling this "food" the nutritional benefits of peanut hulls, sawdust, soy and by-products (google for gory details of the "4 Ds.) These people need pressure put on them to do their JOBS and inform! (They have all the facts! on silver platter already; I have sent them resources along with links.) Following are a few of the NEWS Investigative Teams/Channels; News Radio; and Newspapers so far emailed who could probably use a push as they MUST have viewers/readers who own pets. If you'd like to shoot one (or more) a line or two, maybe they'll get the hint? Pet owners need to fight for our right to be informed, instead of having Brittany Spears force-fed us every waking moment! The mainstream media has advertising revenue from those pet food companies, which may have something to do with their reluctance to provide this information. Either that, or they have McVets they, themselves, trust -- instead of having a good veterinarian who has no NEED to be a salesman because he's just too busy being a DOCTOR! (Our family's wonderful veterinarians before we moved never, ever pretended to know about diet and never, ever became aggressive sales-people instead of Doctors.)

Hi Susan, I've tried to post twice to this page and it says my post was submitted but it isn't showing up. Is it closed? I had some info to share.
Thanks, Deb
Deb,
Your posts are coming through. Must have been some kind of glitch or something.
Oh, I figured out the "glitch" the HubPages thought you were sending spam so your post was waiting for my approval before posting. All fixed up now!
Susan
l recently bought a little dog and since the purchase have been bombarded with information about giving my dog dry food that she can live on and not need anything else to be healthy. l thought dogs were carniverious, when l was a child we had a dog and he got one main meal a day ( chopped meat, grated carrot a bit of wheat germ and a few drops of cod liver oil ) a raw meat bone was also given once a day and occasiolally two weet-bix with a bit of hot water in the morning as a treat, that was it. Now it's this pack of stuff that is crunchy that causes my dog to be thirsty all the time ( kidney problems ) and l am told not to feed her anything else. l'm sorry l don't believe you Mr Expert Vet and Pet Food Store owner. My first dog had a lusterous coat, never went to the vet and NEVER GOT ANYTHING THE MATTER WITH HIM. Wake up people and stop letting these thieves con you, that's what they are alright con artists and thieves. Get back to basics and let your common sense let you see that this is a dog or a cat that has lived as long as man and suddenly now we change their diet and they need professional care. 'Are the bells ringing yet?

Susan, you are right that pet owners are being defrauded by pet food companies but by the Vets too who for years have told us to feed the food the Vet sells which makes the Vet even up to 100% profit from the sale of it so a Vet tells me. However, Vets need illness and the food creates illness as proved by the 70 or so veterinary research papers I have which blame pet food for causing cancer, kidney failure, diabetes, dilated cardiomyopathy, cystitis, ibd, hyperthryoidis, struvite crystals, calcium oxalate stones in the kidneys and which show that even before the pet food recalls pet food is day in day out causing such illness in pets that they often end needlessly euthanased when the Vet cannot cure them but the Vet should not have told the client to feed pet food in the first place and I am working on getting a stop put to Vets being allowed to sell pet food. I would also like a stop put to the veterinary schools taking funding from pet food companies eg. Hills have recently given the University of Geulph Veterinary School $1M and Hills are funding the World Small Animal Conference for 2008 which means that no paper blaming pet food for illness in pets will be presented and pets and pet owners are betrayed by what Cindy Geisler DVM says in the foreword to Kymythy Schultz, animal nutritionists book entitled "Natural Nutrition for Cats" is an unhealthy relationship between Vets and pet food companies. Let us all band together to get a stop put to all this since veterinary schools have disclosed copies of their contracts with Hills, Purina, Royal Canin, Walthams etc. to me under the Freedom of Information Act and the contracts show the Vets have completely forgotten that without pet onwers they would be out of business but their relationship with pet food companies is so unhealthy that pets are needlessly getting illness because the Vets are the ones who impress on clients they must only feed pet food but as Kathy Sinning DVM has said it is preposterous pets are being fed dry pet food. Tinned food is only marginally better than dry since veterinary research shows tinned food is causing cancer and hyperthryoidism etc. The Vets seem to be getting off without criticism but I think the Vets are just as guilty as the pet food companies because the Vets have silently let the pet food companies get away with it all and have endorsed the food because they make profit from the sale of the food and then again make profit from the illness it eventually causes. I think you are doing a wonderful job. I am in Britain and here too I am challenging the whole veterinary profession over the scandal of them being allowed to sell pet food but under new consumer laws which prohibit unfair trading practices such as Vets misleading clients to believe that pet food is good for pets I am hoping to get a stop put to Vets selling any kidn of pet food.
