67We owe it to our pets to treat them the very best we can. They give us so much love and attention. Here are some tried and true great natural remedies for pets from your kitchen to keep your him vibrant and super healthy. Great nutrition is at the top of pet health remedies that can save you quite a few dollars on vet bills and make your pet a lot happier too!
Garlic
1/2 - 2 fresh crushed garlic cloves(depending on your dog's size) in your dog's food is great for his stomach, intestines and immune system. Garlic also rids your pet of parasites and heart worms. Garlic is well known for its antibacterial properties. It will make him taste bad to fleas and keep him nice and healthy. Mix crushed garlic in olive oil and let it sit for a day or so. Then use an eye dropper to apply drops in his ear and rub. This will smother ear mites and help any infection that might be brewing. Garlic is not good for cats.
Yogurt
Of all the pet home remedies, use this one to build up his good bacteria and keep him super healthy. . Drizzle unflavored yogurt on his kibble a couple of times a week to build up the good bacteria in his intestines. Yogurt is great for your pet’s digestive track and keeps it in balance. Don’t use a yogurt with a lot of sugar in it. Sugar is not good for pets.
Apple Cider Vinegar.
Soak a cotton ball in ACV and put it on a hot spot for as long as you can. This is very soothing to the dog and will help clean up infection. Use 1 part ACV with 3 parts water. Do not use AVC if your pet is sensitive or allergic to yeast.
Baking Soda
Mix a paste of baking soda and water for any insect bites or stings your pet may get. This will soothe the inflammation and draw out the poison.
Butter
If your cat has a hair ball, butter will lubricate her digestive tract and help get it out of her system. ½ to 1 teaspoon everyday for a week.
Meat tenderizer
Mix a paste of water and meat tenderizer and apply to insect bits to soothe them. Adolph’s Meat Tenderizer reduces the allergens in a dog or cat’s dander and saliva. Use 1 tablespoon tenderizer with one cup of water. Wipe your pet down with a washcloth wet from this solution. Don’t forget their tummies. Let it dry. Use once a week.
Virgin Coconut oil
Drizzle a little of the coconut oil on their food a couple times a week for a glorious coat.
Turmeric
If your pet has cysts, put ½ to 1 teaspoon of turmeric in their food every day until the cyst is gone. Then continue a few times a week for maintenance. Also make a poultice with turmeric to stop wounds from bleeding. Turmeric is also good for inflammation and arthritis.
Colostrum
Colostrum is the early milk produced by the mammory glands in mammels. It is incredible rich in immune factors and will build the immune system. The Colostrum you buy in the store usually comes from cow's milk. Sprinkle colustrum on your pet's food to super strengthen their immune system.
Diatomaceous Earth
Food grade diatomaceous earth is great for your pets and for you too! It is very effective at controlling internal parasites. Food grade DE is the milled remains of phytoplankton that lived in the oceans and lakes. There are no chemicals. What kills the parasites are the razor sharp edges of the diatom’s remains which lacerates the bugs exoskeleton, then the powdery earth absorbs the body fluid causing death by dehydration. When using it for de-worming, it’s important that it be fed to the animal long enough to catch all the newly hatching eggs. At least 60-90 days. DE also is loaded with 15 trace minerals: calcium, magnesium, sodium, potassium, copper, zinc, iron, phosphorous, selenium, etc… You will notice a change in your pet’s coat and overall health. You may also work it externally into you pet’s coat to kill fleas, tics, and any other pests. Raw food diet. If you want to end hot spots, ear infections, and itching and scratching, you need to look at your pet’s diet. There are companies that make patties of raw food you store in your freezer to make it easy. You can find them on the internet or in specialty pet stores. Dogs and cats raised on raw food are free of degenerative diseases and age less quickly. Animals need the live enzymes available from raw food for optimum health. The acidic digestive systems of cats and dogs handle bacteria very well. They are not susceptible to salmonella poisoning, e-coli or other harmful bacterias. Although a raw food diet will be a little more expensive than your current diet, in the long run you will save tons of money! Give it a try for a few months and see if Fido doesn’t get healthier!
Water
Always make sure your pets have access to fresh water. Dehydration is the cause of so many illnesses and can be so easily avoided.
