Peter Paul: The Chase Begins, by Stokely Gittens

Review
I bought my copy directly from Stokely Gittens himself at NecronomiCon.
I like him, and I mean this review to be constructive criticism.
Peter Paul is rough, but it shows potential. Mr. Gittens would
benefit from a better editor, a better proof reader, and better type
setting. To a lesser extent he would also benefit from technical
consultants in military and police matters and medicine.
He, like all writers, myself included, needs a good editor to keep
him honest. Several of his scenes are just crying out for better
development, and an editor would help with this.
Peter Paul has many errors in English, mis-spellings, and odd word
choices. A proof reader would point these out so Mr. Gittens could fix
them. I cannot stress enough the importance of a good proof reader.
The formatting, particularly of many of the dialog scenes, is
wrong. This is where a good type setter would come in, because someone
with experience in typesetting would be able to fix these problems
easily.
Asking some questions of people with experience in areas about
which you are writing is a good way to keep from losing readers with
experience in those areas. These people, even if they aren't
professional consultants are called "technical consultants". When a
writer writes science fiction he enters into a contract with his
reader. The reader agrees to a certain suspense of disbelief, and the
writer agrees to not stretch that suspense of disbelief too far.
Several scenes in Peter Paul stretch suspense of disbelief to the
breaking point. Asking a few questions of people with experience in
certain areas would solve this problem.
Those things said, Peter Paul: The Chase Begins shows a lot of
potential, and I look forward to seeing more from Stokely Gittens as he
improves in the art, and especially in the craft of writing.

In all honesty, Jack, I didn't either. But it does show promise, and I do hope Stokely Gittens keeps writing and continues to improve his craft.
