Pete's Movie Reviews: Kung Fu Panda
55
Po is a panda fortold to be the Dragon Warrior, who is the only one who stands a chance against the evil Tai Lung. Unfortunately, there are few who believe in him, including his master who has vowed to train him. To everyone, he's just a fat panda who works in his father's noodle shop.
If you're going into this one expecting to see a predictable, politically correct tale about believing in yourself, following your dreams, embracing your individuality, and the affirmation that its somebody elses fault if you turn out bitter and evil (namely your parents) then you won't be disappointed.
Jackie Chan has a cameo voice, if only a couple of lines, purely so they can put him in the credits (does he do his own stunts?). To the producers' credit, it worked as audiences oooed and aahed when they found out he was the monkey.
In spite of this, what we have is a really good funny movie with great animation quality, action sequences and an artistic eye. It is one that both the kids and adults can enjoy together. Certainly the adults I saw it with all loved it, which upgrades my 3.5 stars to a 4.
