James Hoyt (Scott Speedman) and his girlfriend, Kristen McKay (Liv Tyler), find themselves at the Hoyt summer home in the middle of nowhere, in the middle of the night, following his rejected proposal of marriage to her. The mood is one of frustration and sadness. The horrific events to follow begin with a knock on the door from a girl looking for someone neither of them know.

So whats next? Mostly just a series of cliche spooky and suspensful moments with no real plotline. A man, woman and child wearing masks spend the night terrorising James and Kristen, and preventing any means of escape. There is no known motive behind their actions except because they're there, or even any explanation of who the three are or why they are there. James and Kristen keep separating from each other or walking into scary moments for no plausible reason. I thought this type of horror movie was put to rest in the 80's.

As informed at the beginning, this is a movie apparently inspired by real events, without anyone knowing what truly happened, so you can guess they aren't going to make it out alive. Given the nature of the movie, it looks like the plot was more inspired than factual.

There's nothing particularly bad about the acting or cinematography, but the premises and plot are about as sound as those found in porn. Don't waste your time watching this movie. 2 stars out of 5.
