Are you trying to get your own Pet Snake? There are plenty of resources online for finding a good pet snake to buy and own.

Considering buying one? First read my Snakes For Sale page, which gives a brief overview of what you need to do to buy your own snake. Here is a brief summary:

How much does a snake cost? The price of a snake varies from $10 to $300 (average about 30), depending on the variety. However, after taking into account food, cage, vet visits, and everything else, you can expect to spend $500-1000/year, just to take care of your snake! (Again, this depends on the variety of snake).

Pros of owning a snake pet

  • Snakes don't take up a lot of space
  • Snakes don't hurt your furniture
  • Snakes can be left alone for a long period of time
  • Snakes don't make too much noise
  • Snakes are fun!

Cons

  • No matter how easy the pet, you are still responsible for it.
  • You will need to buy food and a cage for your snake. You will also need to take it to the vet.
  • You can't leave your snake alone for too long! That means you might need someone to check up on it during a vacation.

Procedure for pets snakes - Where to find and buy

If you want to buy a pet snake, you need to first find it at a pet store. As I wrote in my other snake hub (and my Iguana for Sale hub), you can find pet stores near you by going to http://maps.google.com and searching for 'Pet stores near [your address]," This will bring up reviews and locations for pet stores near you.

Here are the steps to buying your pet snake:

  1. Research the pros and cons of snake ownership. Snakes are some very fun reptiles, and they don't need you to take care of it too much. However, they still do need your help. If you aren't sure snakes are for you, consider an Iguana for Sale or Tortoise for Sale.
  2. Go to the pet store near you and look around! Do you like the corn snake? (The most common and easiest beginner snake). If so, play with it and see if it's for you!
  3. Ask the pet store clerk what other supplies you'll need. Sometimes they will try to sell you unnecessary things so make sure you search the Internet for good cages and habitats for your snake.
  4. Find out the total cost of ownership and the total time you will need to take care of your snake. It's a responsibility!
  5. Decide if a snake is worth it for you. Consider all the pros and cons.
  6. Buy your snake, take it home, and have fun!

Buying a snake is an awesome idea if you want an easy, fun pet. I hope that you learned a lot from this hub! Please let me know in the comments below if there is anything else you wish to know!
