First Thoughts on Phenedrine

It’s my experience that supplements typically disappear from the diet market for a good reason. They’re either ineffective or unsafe, and so people don’t buy them – plain and simple. So when information on a supplement like Phenedrine is available, but the product itself isn’t any longer, I start seeing red flags.

Phenedrine is supposed to boost metabolism and suppress appetite while also improving mental concentration and energy. These are rather conventional claims for a diet product, and so I’m not surprised that Phenedrine hasn’t made a big impression on the market. Any company can claim their product burns off fat and increases energy. That doesn’t make it true. And Phenedrine’s parent company, Biogen, seems to have disappeared as well. For consumers who are concerned with diet, exercise, and other weight loss techniques, a supplement like Phenedrine from a company like Biogen isn’t going to be much of an option. In short, I can’t really get behind a product like Phendrine, and that shouldn’t come as a surprise to anyone – the product appears to be thoroughly unavailable.

Phenedrine Ingredients & What They Do

Phenedrine was supposed to contain White Willow Bark, Citrus Aurantium, Octopamine, Green Tea, Yerba Mate, L-Tyrosine, Pantothenic Acid, and Vitamin B6. With the inclusion of White Willow Bark – a kind of natural aspirin – and Green Tea and Yerba Mate – two sources of Caffeine – Phenedrine functions as an ECA stack. That is, it delivers Ephedrine (or Ephedrine-like ingredients), Caffeine, and Aspirin. These popular, but potentially hazardous stacks crop up all over the diet market, and I’d advise caution when considering them.

For Ephedrine-like qualities, Phenedrine contains Citrus Aurantium, or Bitter Orange, which is prized for its Synephrine content, the action of which may indeed boost metabolism when used properly. Synephrine should not increase heart rate or induce negative side effects on the cardiovascular and/or central nervous systems. Citrus Aurantium must be used moderately if it is to work safely. Furthermore, when combined, or “stacked,” with Caffeine, Citrus Aurantium may become an unsafe option for weight loss. If you’ve got heart and/or blood pressure issues, don’t use Citrus Aurantium. And of course, pregnant or lactating women should avoid it as well.

Finally, I should note that Octopamine is a biogenic amine that functions similarly to dopamine. In some countries, it has been counted among illegal drugs, as it is often included in party pills for its amphetamine-like qualities.

Main Drawbacks to Phenedrine

I don’t like the ingredients formula at all. Despite Citrus Aurantium’s potential as a metabolism booster, when it’s combined with Caffeine, I get a bit nervous. Fat burners like this are a dime a dozen, and they’re often more trouble than they’re worth. The potential hazards of Phenedrine’s formula aren’t really worth the risk.

Would I Use Phenedrine?

For sustainable, healthy weight loss, I’d probably turn to diet and exercise first, and a stimulant-free supplement later – as a supplement. Phenedrine doesn’t fit the bill for me, so I’m hesitant to say I’d use it.

What They’re Saying About Phenedrine

Most of the information on Phenedrine deals with its unavailability. Again, this unavailability is most likely for good reason, and so I’d join everyone in warning against using Phenedrine.
