Early 2009: I decided to begin a new Photography Project. I googeled around to collect some ideas. Then I saw some phantastic Gothic Pictures. I was so amazed and searched more of this. The decision about the project was clear: Gothic Style Pictures!

New Ways of Photography
The goal was to do something new or in another way - not easy in Photography and seldom achieved..

• it should be new, in another way
• the Gothic Scene should love this Gothic Pictures
• someone who knows me should recognize that it was my style to take Photos - "it´s from Rod Meier..."

A lot of Problems to solve:
I did not know "gothic" People, I did not know how they think or what kind of change in Gothic Photography they accept - without killing the essence of a gothic style picture. What is the essence of Gothic Photography? So it was hard to create something they like.

Taking a look deeper in the Dark Community, I learned, that there are many different kinds of Gothics: Dark Gothic, Emo, Vampires, bloody, hard and romantic styles and so much more. It´s a world of it´s own, I was totally amazed.

Gothic Photography - the Ideas

I bought some Utilities like Vampire Fangs, Angel Wings, some dark Clothes. Then I remembered - it should be something "new":

• Almost all Pictures in the world of gothic are black and often with black, long haired girls - so I asked a blonde model with short hairs.
  
• Most of the original gothic Pictures are black&white or the colours are very dark.
  But i like Colors! The more and stronger Colors, the better! To create Pictures not often seen, I will take them in my prefered style: very colorful gothic Pictures!

I did 2 Photoshootings with 2 different girls (thanks to the girls! They did a wonderful job!).
I was not really happy with the pictures, thinking not hitting my targets. But I saw, it was a good direction. And the photos are "gothic" enough to show them.

What do "Gothics" think about the Pictures?

To get some Response, I put the Pictures in some german, gothic Communities. I asked them to give me some Response: It took some days and the Webmaster of a "dark communitity" wrote me via email: He said that he likes the Pictures, they are a little bit different from the Mainstream and he asked, if i have more of them!
Cool! If a webmaster responds in this way - I got my goal!

The Gothic Project has almost nothing to do with my Job as Photographer. It was just a Try to do something new and get further experience. I decided to create some Desktop Wallpapers with some of these Pictures and put them on my Homepage.
