I use Adobe Photoshop 6.0, so I don't know whether these tips will work in PhotoshopCS. As Photoshop 7.0 is not very different from 6.0, I believe most of them will work.

Pressing brackets ] will make the brush size larger, while [ will make brush size smaller.

To change brush opacity, simply press the first number of the percent you want.

To quickly zoom in zoom out: hold Control- (zoom out) or Control+ (zoom in)

Blurring an image will reduce the image size.

When you double click the background which still locked, it will be a new layer [alternate for 'Layer from Background']

Shortcuts

B Brush tool

C Crop tool

D Make the foreground color to black and background color to white.

E Eraser tool

F Maximize / Maximize to full screen / Restore.

H Hand tool

Q Enter/exit quick mask

X Switch between foreground/background color.

Z Zoom tool

More shortcuts

Ctrl-Alt then click the layer and drag, give you a copy of the layer you click.

Ctrl-Tab will enable you to switch between workspaces/opened documents in Photoshop.

P.S. I haven't done yet ;-) I just need more time..

Just curious to whether you have used Paint.NET and if so how does it compare to PhotoShop.

no, I haven't used paint.net before. but I heard it's so much like Photoshop that people call it 'free Photoshop'. you can learn more about it here: http://www.getpaint.net/
