It's still a bit rough around the edges, like Karen and Kata beach were 20 years ago, but there's a certain character, ambience and appeal to this part of Phuket. You will need to bring your sense of adventure, although you can't really say that it doesn't have its share of luxury villas to choose from. It is designed to accommodate those who are looking for bit of a change of pace, and want to step away from those famous destinations like Patong.

Golfers can choose from all sorts of world-class golf courses. These courses host numerous international competitions every year as well, and the North has become the last intact area of virgin rainforest and offers something for the more adventurous guests who wish to go exploring. They'll find stunning waterfalls, an array of wildlife conservation projects and all of them are accessible by car.

One of the most popular destinations in Phuket is Patong. Its beach is the most developed, vibrant, and most visited, because it never fails to impress its visitors. It's located about 15 km from the city, and the beach has a wide array of accommodations, shopping arcades and an energetic, and nightlife entertainment.

You could look at the beach and call it a picture-perfect postcard, when viewing the 3 km long white sandy beach perfect for swimming, jet skiing, surfing, snorkeling, sailing and parasailing. If you go up in the hills beyond Patong, there are a number of Phuket villa rentals, and they are amongst the best in the world. It is where the rich and famous go to enjoy the stunning beach and sample the vibrant nightlife

Batong is also famous for stunning ocean views and whilst Bangtao may seem worlds away, it's actually only 20 minutes south, where you can drive along the winding roads of the coastline and look at the stunning ocean view.

Thailand is considered first in the world's best tourist country category and has won awards the Swedish Grand Travel Award for five consecutive years. It's one of the top 10 travel destinations for Swedish travelers, who also go to South America, The United States, Italy, China, Greece, Denmark, Spain, France and Croatia. Thailand has also won some other awards including an award from the award-winning luxury travel and lifestyle magazine DestinAsian, which awarded Bangkok as the best leisure city, and to the Oriental Bangkok as the best hotel.
