Mehndi or henna is a kind of dye which gives special feature to the beauty of woman when it is design in artistic way. It is generally used in Asian & African countries.

Henna is extracted from a type of tree named Lawsonia whose leaves when dried and mixed with boiling water stain the skin with a special colour.

In many parts of India, henna is quiet popular specially in woman community during festivals and weddings. Usability of henna goes beyond cosmetic and aesthetic value.

Henna also used as a Ayurvedic medicine in the form of lotions & ointment. It is an antiseptic, anti-irritant, astringents, antibacterials, antifungals, antispasmodics, antipyretics , topical sunscreens, antiperspirants, as a treatment for sunburn & eczema, in the prevention & masking of foot odour, as a skin moisturizer & conditioner, and as a treatment for hair loss.

It is not advised to use on children under age of six.Parents should specially avoid.

It is also seen that widows generally don`t apply henna on their hand.
