Bank of Scotland £1.00

Royal Bank Of Scotland Notes

Although,we spend our money every day, Scottish Banknotes are not actual legal tender, they are promisary notes from Scottish banks. If you take a close look at any Scottish Banknote be it £1.00, £5.00, £10.00, £20.00, £50.00 or £100.00, it states on each one depending on the value,"The Royal Bank of Scotland promise to pay the bearer on demand £1.00 sterling at their head office".

It can prove difficult sometimes to pass Scottish notes in England, as some stores will not accept them, although this is changing, but if stores did take them in the past the would add 10% or so to the cost of your purchase for handling charges which ofcourse didn't exist.
