Pinkety Pink Pink Pink! - facts and fun

In the pink!
Pink is a pale red, but has a personality of its own. It’s a romantic colour, favourite of women who are not feminists. Barbara Cartland, after a visit to Tutankhamen’s tomb, liked the pink walls she saw there and vowed to wear only pink the rest of her life. Suits her; dresses as pink as her books!
If Red is the colour of passionate love, pink is the colour of a mellow romance. Shocking pink and hot p are slightly stronger, though. For white people, to be pink was healthy, which is the origin of ‘in the pink’ or ‘in the pink of health.’ Your ‘pinkie’ is your little finger, if you’re Caucasian, that is. Modern whites, however, want to be brown. They go to tropical climes and lie on the beach looking like so many salmon out of water. In Japan, ‘blue’ films are called ‘pink’ movies.
Who is Pinked?
Traditionally, female infants are given pink dresses while males are in blue. That's convenient for visitors who don't want to ask.
The Breast Cancer Awareness ribbon is pink. The Swedish political party called 'Feminist Initiative' chose pink for its colour.
Gays have adopted pink as their colour. The inverted pink triangle is a symbol of gay pride and gay rights.
Pink Entertainment
The Pink Panther is a series of funny films starring Peter Sellers, and a cool cartoon character. Pink Cadillac - Clint Eastwood starred in it; Bruce Springsteen sang it and Elvis Presley drove it.
When Alecia Moore sings, she is Pink. Pink Floyd, Pink Fairies and The Pink Spiders are music bands.
Pink rangers are the smartest of the Power Rangers, and are female.
Pink is strawberry flavour, bubblegum, tongues, cotton candy, and the colour of those born in Thailand on a Tuesday.
If you see pink elephants, you are drunk! Cheers!
Pink Politics
If Red is the colour of Communism, Pink is the colour of those who are sympathetic to C, without being totally into it. They were called pinkos by Time magazine in 1926, and the name stuck, like chewing gum under a theatre seat.
Code Pink is a feminist anti-war group founded in October 2, 2002 on the birthday of Mahatma Gandhi, apostle of nonviolence.
The President of Argentina lives in 'La Casa Rosada' or the Pink House.

Dear Isabella and SunSeven, thanks for adding value to this hub with your cool comments! Bonus, much appreciated!
Isabella, your pale pink preference shows that you are a nice feminist; one who believes in equal rights but is not a noisy fanatic. I think I'm one too!
SunSeven thanks for the Aerosmith!
Great HUB as always!
regards Zsuzsy
Ah, the Great Bee strikes again! Thanks, Zsuzy!
I love pink and wished it was more acceptable for guys to wear it.
Intersting tips also from Isabella which is news to me..
Another great Hub;;)
Why don't you just wear pink, Compu-smart? You will find that there are many who want to wear it, but are just waiting for someone else to be first.
Yes, Isabella did add info to the hub, I'm very grateful. And the lyrics SunSeven gave us are from 'Pink' by Aerosmith.
Thats right Kenny. I enjoyed your "pinksession".(I bet you got it from Goan sun n' fen')
Waiting for "rosession"
Warm Regards
Hee hee, Sun7. I must have had too much of Goan sun 'n' fen! Hub sun'n'seven is fine, though!
Rose? That's another name for pale pink!
Sunny Regards!
Thanks for the link Kenny, I feel tickled pink now:)
Awesome hub! I didn't know about 'Code Pink' before! Thx for sharing
My honour, Compu-smart! My pleasure, Teeray!
Nice Illustration, well done. Cheers.
Thank you, cgull! It also has a sea gull in the pink sky!
I hope you have a place for pastels because anything I could produce any direction at all pales beside your colour series of Hubs.
Iðunn, I don't think what you produce pales beside my hubs, and you just produced great poetry!
I hope
You have a place for
Pastels
Because anything I produce
Any direction at all
Pales
Beside your colour
Series of
Hubs.
thank you.
I don't know if this is the ultimate compliment or not, but you make me not want to write anymore. I'm something of a noticer of genius. If I excel at anything, I suspect it's at recognizing and appreciating brilliance and at being an ardent fan of genius I see in others.
Genius is my shiny thing and like any girl shiny thingz are like magnetz to me... I want to watch with awe and revel in others' creativity. I surround myself with the extraordinary and normally this brings out the best of what meager creativity I have to draw from. I love that.
You are so far above me in scope, focus, intelligence, humor, creativity and expertise I feel like I have nothing to offer in exchange. :o
That's a beautiful compliment, Iðunn, and funnily, instead of getting all heavy around the head, I feel so humble. I don't do poetry, atleast not serious ones, and I read yours and am moved greatly.
Now how can I reply to your words, without arguing like an ingrate? I don't know. But I know what I'll do; I'll show your comment to my critics!
I thank you, kind Madam, with a deep bow that hides my tears.
the best of the best, friend. you are a gentleman and a scholar.
well, I'm no poet either, I'm just a girl, any girl, perhapz at times every girl who has ever been in love, loved both the underdog with an enate maternal feeling, and desired to have people to look up to who makes our lives brighter simply because they exist, and who sees value in others as peers, both male and female where we all share in common the qualities of being human.
I suspect it tells well on you that you find something to admire in women in general.
I woke up with one of my rare headaches this morning at 3 am or so, Did I tell I you that I'm from India? And my headache dissappeared due to the power of your comments. Maybe that was what it needed?
Maybe we share many things, which is why you call me, friend, friend.
But you are an activist whereas I'm one whose words are more than his acts.
I feel for the underdog, but you do feel and do things.
That way, you are a better person than I, Iðunn!
I'm trying to evolve into a better person, and probably will, with good people around. Like you.
And women! What will I do without them? I was brought up in a family with many women of all ages, more women than men, and I'm half-woman, which is why, probably, I'm a gentleman!
Now let me go to your recent hubs.
haha, you will have to take my word on it that I'm as human as the next person and far far from any kind of saint. ask drax - he has always had a tendency to bring out the absolute worst in me, when he wasn't bringing out the best. :p
I actually do try to do useful things for those directly around me as I can, so I won't deny that. But never underestimate the power of wordz as activation. Words can create powerful influence; words chosen to promote the positive can change the world at least in bits and pieces, which is the best any of us can hope for.
I always read a man with a healthy appreciation for women as a man who had a loving wonderful mother. I'm so glad you had a big happy family and I'd admire you as much even if you were half-alien. :)
hehe, I'm sometimes half-alien! Bits and pieces through words? Okay, will continue...
You don't have to be a saint, I can't relate to them. I can only be in awe of them.
You are human, very much so! It tells in your art, and delightfully!
In spite of being human if you do what saints do, you are a greater saint!
Your awesome,My granddaughter saw your pink Blog and just loved it .I will be putting you on my rss feed
Thanks, Morals! Delighted that I can reach across generations! Oh, wow!
Kenny,
You are a true teacher. The clarity and simplicity in the way you deliver that which you know, continues to inspire me. I hope you do not mind, but I will be not only reading that which you write, but also the way in how you do so. I love the way that you organize everything that I have seen thus far.
I am more than one of your fans. I am an observer, thus a student.
I note your professionalism, and feel blessed to have access to what you are so willing to share.
tDMg
Oh, Nana, your good deed for the day is done, and when you go to bed tonight, you can rest assured that you made someone so proud of himself! I never knew I was organised, for example. Thought I was a mess!
I'm willing to share, and I'm blessed in turn when people readily take from my basket!
Now I have to go and answer your other comment, which is as delightfully long as this!
God bless you.

Cool hub, Kenny! I like the pale pink colors.. do I fit in with the feminists or the non-feminists? ;-)
Did you know the pink triangle/gay association comes from Hitler? The Jews had yellow stars, homosexuals had pink triangles and I think (but am not positive) that Jehovas Witnesses had purple triangles. I might be confusing the last group though..
