World - The association of software manufacturers BSA (Business
Software Alliance) revealed the results of software piracy in 2008.
Where in the world, this figure has increased from 38 to 41%, France
has seen its rate fall slightly.
$ 53 billion, the shortfall would have suffered with the
manufacturers of software in 2008 and this figure should increase in
2009 due to the economic crisis. "It could be that users keep their
equipment longer to avoid certain investments, so they are more likely
to be found with unlicensed software," says Natacha Jollet David,
spokesperson of BSA in France.
Despite the increase in piracy, BSA is pleased that 57 countries
out of 110 have seen their rates decrease. France is one with a very
slight decline since increased from 42 to 41%.
The countries whose purchasing power is extremely low is obviously
the worst students. Thus, Georgia tops the ranking with a rate of 95%,
it is followed by Bangladesh (92%) while the United States can
celebrate knowing the lowest (21%) .
DRM (digital rights management) and software pre-installed: BSA
believes that these solutions are most effective against piracy.
