Pirate Internet TV
72Pirate TV on the Internet
Many television shows can be viewed in their entirety on the Internet. Television networks are making many of their most popular shows available online. The networks usually add advertisements to the shows to make them profitable.
Web users are also uploading full episodes to video sharing sites so that people may watch them. This has started new debates on piracy. It has even resulted in threats to shut sites that link to these shows down.
QuickSilverScreen was a target of the Fox network late last year. The site did not host pirated TV shows, but simply provided a directory of links to where they may be viewed. Fox's lawyers said that the site infringed upon their intellectual property, and gave the site's owner the option of shutting the site down or giving it away for free. This whole deal just ended up giving the site more promotion.
Another controversial Web TV technology is the new TVUPlayer. This software brings back memories of the old Napster in that it allows users to broadcast television channels to be viewed online. Whether the software will face any legal battles remains to be seen.
tVadio is shaping up to be another big player in the online television game. The site provides access to genuine online TV channels. tVadio's mission is to make Internet TV more accessible and give viewers more options.
